Eradication-type missions need a massive rework, they are unfun as hell.
Like, I get this universe is meant to be goofy, but there is LITERALLY no logical sense behind throwing human lives against forces on the ground on such a tiny Island with huge enemy presence when we have ORBITAL ORDNANCE AT HAND. Why do we have to go down in a literal hornet nest to constantly die and waste supplies when we can simply nuke that so neatly crowded area with some orbital mags?

Now, don't misread that first paragraph as a logic error in the games universe, I quite literally mean the gameplay.

Eradication missions should have you actually do something to "lure in" the enemy because it makes literally 0 sense that we as players can directly dive into a bug queens nest or an Automaton "king of the hill" area. If those would be highly priority targets of an enemy faction, there would be MUCH MORE defenses like Anti-Air Cannons from Automatons and almost everywhere Bial Titans for the Bugs.

We also have no reason to go there on those maps itself. We just drop and the enemy suddenly "shows up"? Like, in the bugs case it makes sense, because the map looks so infested that it is quite likely the middle of a hive nest. But the Automatons? It's just a rock with trenches, not even a factory on it. Why are we going there? Those hills have literally 0 strategic value from a military perspective and gameplay-wise.

Then there is the map size. The map is so tiny that you clear one side, turn around and when you turn back 5s later there are enemies spawned again because your field of view "freed up" the spawn space due to looking away (developers usually spawn enemy units out of sight, unless it's bugged or intentional via animations).

So, here are my wishes for those Eradication type missions.

* Make the maps 50-100% bigger, because being in such a claustrophobic map with so many enemies is just frustrating. Give us some space to fight.
* Add an actual deeper objective to it (like, killing initial waves, then priming a tactical Nuke AND THEN extraction before detonation asap)
* Give players an initial minute to stock up via supplies, etc. before the first enemies show up.
* Specifically for Automatrons - Make the Base more logical in design, like instead of it being like an Isle there are surrounding structures around the map border, like we literally dived into a bigger base.

2000 bugs of a fullscale map? That would be fun!

So you complain about humans being dropped against large number of enemies? Man that's the whole point of the game.
:D
And for the mission....they are very quick. Just ignore them or do them in 2 min.

Next you're gonna tell me that landing on a planet to raise a flag or launch a nuke, that we can fire from orbit, is a waste of time
I smell treason

The enemies need to spawn further away from you, I did a Helldive eradicate earlier today and before I could even call down my first stratagem there was a bile titan crawling out of the ground 15m away.

Absolutely unfun.
Maybe more of a limit to the raw amount of enemies that can be on these maps at a time could help the 200 bots shooting at you 24/7 issues it currently has?

The worst is the open up of the Bot eradicate mission, wtf were they thinking?!
Flo Mar 12, 2024 @ 3:18am
They increased the number of kills from 150 to 500 to stop people from afk mortar farming, good, but the problem is they didn't increase the length of the mission. All 500 enemies spawn in the same time it took the 150 previously. Also now they spawn anywhere, kinda ruining the "king of the hill" vibe. It has become a game of running along the edges of the map in circles.

Try the Defence missions where you have to escort civilians.

I don't like escorting civilians.
5 at a time per-door.
3 doors.
OVER NINE THOUSAND bots.
All the civs do is run & dive to dodge bullets.

Good luck diving to dodge bullets yourself & as soon as you hit 45-50 out of 60 in Helldive, well time to bring in 6 Tanks, 8-12 Hulks & another NINE THOUSAND bots to boot even if you have 3 players out distracting them "THEY WILL COME FOR YOU" yes, you, the only player escorting the civilians without shooting a single bullet or using Stratagems & all you're doing is running door to door to hit the bell (quite literally Door Dash).

I like the idea about having to lure the enemy.
Perhaps scrap the island idea and make a canyon style map, or something with a choke point. Lure the enemy into a pre-deployed multi hellbomb trap that we would have to arm. Each bomb being deeper into the advancing force. The team would be harassed by the vanguard of the advancing army. Drop ships and bug holes.

Keep the main goal of a kill limit, every bomb would be optional and the trap would be manually detonated via a gem or console. After the bombs go off you mop up until the limit is hit and you extract like normal.

Failing to arm enough bombs or setting them off too early won't fail the mission outright, but will likely cause the team to be overwhelmed as the kill limit would become a lofty goal.

it's probably cheaper to send 20 helldivers + gear than it is to send 5-10 nukes...

Ever heard of the O.D.I.N? A Satellite weapon that "drops" Wolfram Rods simply on the surface? if the SEAF can afford 1 Super Destroyer for each Helldiver, they can afford such a weapon easily.

There isn't 1 super destroyer for each helldiver..... Each super destroyer has an entire army of helldivers suspended in pods waiting to be thawed, and each ship has a seemingly infinite number of helldivers stowed away in the ship, meaning that they very much are squeezing every penny out of this war possible. A giant rod made out of resources just left sitting there? That doesn't sound very democratic soldier!

Now a few drums of gas and a couple of bullets on the other hand....

Just don't call em eradicate missions. Call them "defend outpost" and have a timer rather than a kill count. So you need to defend till the timer runs out for whatever reason, maybe they are uploading data or setting a self destruct. Then evac.

Yeah it's to make Helldivers feel special so they'll sacrifice themselves. The crew will say things like "the ship is yours helldiver". They probably say the same to every guy they defrost and send to his death. IMO seeing yourself defrost over and over is actually a sign that it's not even you. You died the first time you lost a mission and you're just playing new character each time. Fresh meat for the grinder.
