Newer Player Question: Solo Play
Hey all, I haven't played much and I'm new to this franchise but it's awesome. Definitely one of the best games I have played.

Question I had: Is this game able to be played solo? I tried to do a, I think, 4-Medium, mission and couldn't push the bugs back enough to even get into a big hive. From the big ass green bugs to the invisible ones, as I would clear giant waves I'd restock and then they'd be back.

So was curious if this was a game I could do solo, as the missions I've started I usually don't get anyone to join with me.

Or, is there a particular difficulty I should stay on as solo. I'm not sure the "meta" of the stratagems yet so wasn't sure you know.

Thanks for advice in advance and hope to see yall out there!

this is not a game for solo players
For me, personally, I feel like I could probably solo 5... maybe 6 if RNG is on my side. While I'm sure there are chads and trihards that will say they can do that, it becomes significantly harder to attempt beyond those lvl 5 difficulties. A lot of running, avoiding fights, and hoping you make the objectives before the dreaded timer runs out.

But as someone stated before me, it's really not a solo gaming experience. A lot of benefit is had by others playing with you; Boosters and heavy enemy answers, for example. Once you start encountering multiple chargers and titans at once, you're going to find yourself stretched thin.

If you're good enoguh, it's possible to solo hell dive with all objectives done and no death.

Some people are able to do it, what's stopping you from doing the same thing?
There are players handling the highest difficulties solo, but it doesn't look fun at all.
It is playable as solo, but it's not easy as the game is not balanced for solo play, it's completely doable just difficult, and higher difficulties require a shift in gameplay style.

Playing normally is usually fine up to difficulty 5, after that it requires a shift in gameplay tactics to a more stealthy approach to complete.

Definitely not that hard, seeing that I and many people do Hell Dive achievement solo (trust me, it's far easier solo).

Lol, facts. Now I have played with higher level players and when I first got the game, and watched them just dominate and basically not need us lol. But I just don't think my skill level is there yet.

It's honestly way more fun / playable with others. It will get hard really quick if you play alone. I'd suggest to Quick play with some people and add them afterwards so u have some mates to join. I added u too. In case u need a mate.
The way things are now, no probably not. Before the last hotfix yes, it was entirely doable solo and I was doing so up to Difficulty 5(Although sometimes I'd have to not extract and jsut focus the mission).

As it is now, it's become quite a crapshoot as there can be enemy patrols that spwan directly behind you and call in reinforcements, and this is a known issue by the developers.

The first game was very soloable at early difficulties as well, just don't expect to run anything reasonably past Difficulty 3 without having some issues or a plan in place for situations.

Thanks man, that's a great suggestion. Quick Play for a while.

Either this is an attempt to troll/derail, but I'll bite just in case it's not.

So you solo with the starting equipment? If not would that then mean you need time and experience aka, not a new player, to solo? This is directed not as the game isn't solo able, but as a new player.

Either way does not matter tbh, quick play as suggested by another player is an awesome idea. I'm sure that'll fix this short term issue till I level up and unlock better things.
start your solo runs when your maybe lvl 20, thats when you unlock everything and experienced with the game. The invisible bugs are called stalkers and they showing themselves meaning they have a lair somewhere on the map. You have to destroy it to prevent those things to come back cuz its fast, it always knows where your at. That is also a secondary obj so, another thing with secondary obj is to click randomly on the map, thats how you put down a pin, but if you managed to click on a secondary obj it will be a box and when you look at the compass on the top of your screen it shows you the icon for that secondary. SO sum things up, you saw those stalkers. Open the map, start clicking randomly in the general direction they came from, 80-90% chance you'll find their lair.
Strategrams, cluster bomb, airstrike are pretty good. If your getting chased by a horde, throw one down your foot and just run. I can get like 20-30 kills or even the entire horde that way. Just know you don't have to kill every single bug, cuz kills don't give you anything so just kill maybe the ones like the hunters or the bugs are gonna be in your way and just do the obj whenever you have the chance, could be like lead the horde away from the obj then run back to it do as much as possible then lead the horde away and run back.

While you can play solo viably on lower difficulties, this game is designed to be played with others.

I say get over whatever fear or reason you can't play with strangers and just try it

You can solo with starting equipment but it will be harder. Because you will be doing 100% run and kite, using smoke and EMS, firepower is negligible.

Time and experience aren't really needed if you can grasp the mechanic and AI pattern within a few hours. The rests lie on your micro skill and reflex.

But if you want to have fun, do multiplayer.
Yes you can solo, but, no you shouldn't solo because that's not the Devs "vision" for the game and its Just not fun past medium difficulty right now. Add the fact that progression is locked behind difficulty and you end up with a losing formula for anyone other than the sweatiest of sweatlords looking to play by themselves. Random matches are a kick fest right now so my advice is find 3 friends to play with or find another game. Don't feel bad, I prefer solo play myself and I'm in the same boat.
