Named enemies, Thats what this game needs.
“I am pleased with our progress. I understand they have located another squad. Our strategy remains the same. Cut off the head of the snake, and the body dies. We will win this war, it's only a matter of time.”

This is a quote from Gears of War. It is said in the first game when one of the series main antagonist named RAAM appears for the first time and kills one of your squad mates. The reason I bring this up is pretty simple.

I love this game, but it's enemies are missing a huge thing. A face. A face that can be hated and loathed the minute you see it, because its the face of a creature that is going to take everything from you and you might not be strong enough to stop it.

I suggest each faction should get a single or several named Leaders. They wouldn't be objectives. No. These leaders would be randomly spawned into a single mission happening in the leaders factions territory. Some where far away from the players first drop on the map. These leaders might have 20 times the normal health of their normal counter part (maybe 10 times if 20 is to much), and would begin hunting the players. If they successfully cause the failure of a mission and survive they get a little stronger, maybe even get a resistance to a damage type. If the players manage to kill this named foe, they get a multiplier to their effect on the campaign from their missions for a few hours.

But if the leader survives a mission, it will randomly spawn in another squads mission, and so on, getting stronger, till someone finally kills it.

These named enemies are singular, so you kill them they stay dead. Imagine you and your squad drop into bug territory. Your destroying eggs, nothing special. As you get to the last egg and are getting ready to leave, two of your team mates die. You turn around to see her “Jaeger, the White Death.” an Albino Bile Titan who spews forth blue acid. Your squad looses all their reinforcements, and even though you succeeded on the mission, you now know you are being hunted and the next mission may not be so successful.

This would add a huge twist to the game, suddenly legendary enemies are fighting along side the hoards and to bring them down would be great honor, but to see one would mean almost guaranteed death. If they stay alive for some time, they may even get bounties, so you could gain a ton of credits or war bonds for defeating them. :) just an Idea.

i need a game what dont crash to desktop after 10 minutes in a mission..
but the idea is not bad.. its maybe to much random.. having a easy or hard mission..

Why would i care what a bugs or a bots Name is before i shoot it for super earth?

I mean It's not that you need to care about the name, its more what the name could come to represent. Like a Bot that has caused the failure of hundreds of missions, or a bug that has been know to wipe out squads then disappear. The kinda thing that gives you an enemy inside an enemy. Lets face it you can kill thousands of enemies, but none of them matter more then that one tank that wiped your squad as you almost completed a mission.
Nice idea, but we all know people would start crying about "artificial difficulty" and try to boycott the game for 2 week straight.

I mean, they already do that. I don't see this causing nearly as much waves as the Gauss rifle did.

Nah we dont need bullet sponge enemies with rpg mechanics, keep that trash in destiny.

Also, how would there names be?

"Oh Look its General 010010110"

"Oh there is Krrr Krrr rr rrrkk the beetleboss"

Maybe a special elite unit that work like a mini boss that can spawn in the mission with certain modifier, no need to give them proper name tho.
They are just like us, a faceless pawns in the war.
Even in HD 1 a boss unit is not really "named" either.

It has them, we've seen them in promo material. (Automaton boss.)

just saying. the minute the internet found out about joel it went insane. a name to an enemy gives it way more fever.

From what I understood, the bile titans aren't the biggest enemies the bugs have. I'm sure we will get what you're asking for OP.

Sounds awesome.

Already are some "boss" style bugs with that mission where you gotta assassinate a particular one.

Off top of my head that one charger with bladed forelegs.

A named one better not be in combat then, since the magic is kinda lost if everyone and their mom can kill "Joel" a hundred time over.
Maybe as a narrative boss of the said mini boss group.
