removing FOG
the fog in this game is an eyesore.
is there any kind of mod or file manipulation possible to get rid of it? or at least less bad?

yes, i know, there are some areas on the map, where you have to shoot some tree/fungus thingys to reduce the fog.. but the fog is just everywhere and a bigger annoyance than nessecary.

i know, this is made for immersion, so stealth might be an option.. but really? its negative impact makes the game looks so much worse.

just look at the comparison for another game (ready or not) and how much sharper and more beautiful it could be:

No, that's a gamedesign feature, not just a visual thingy
If you're fighting bugs - just kill spore spewers (big trees, you can see and shoot them all across the map)
If you're fighting automatons - avoid maps with fog because it becomes heavily annoying very very quickly
I was playing some missions vs automatons and trying out the scorcher but the damn fog is so heavy you can't even see what you are shooting at... It's not fun trying to shoot things you can't see.

The real issue I have with the bots is they can see and shoot you as if the fog isn't there and there is absolutely no counter to it. Only an incredibly few bot worlds don't have fog, and right now those are either inactive or not linked to the current major order which requires taking over a fog-hell world.
I'd like a drop pod enhancement that gives me the same wall hacks as the baddies, or for the bot's agro ranges to be equally affected in foggy areas as my vision.
Or for the bot's glowing eyes to forcibly pierce the fog when they're in shooting distance of you.

Fog on bug maps is plenty annoying but the bugs also aren't 360 noscop-ing you from clear across the map or sometimes even through what should be solid objects like the ground.

How about we remove enemy's all together and make your ship a safe space that you never have to leave, You just click the panel to get all the samples you want. Or would you then complain you have to click too much?

Go back to reddit nerd. If the fogs gonna blind me better than a smoke screen it better blind automatons like the smokescreen.

The amount of fog and mist and visual obstructions is LAUGHABLY over the line. What he is saying, Vespertellino & the rest of you childish bootclickers, is that its a BAD DESIGN choice. And it really is. Its like adding too much to a dish and ruining the recipe. They just wanted to make it look pretty so they kept adding more volumetric stuff but didn't realize they tossed the baby out with the bathwater. They made a game where you are supposed to be using guns, in to a place where you cant see 20 feet, in most cases, on most planets, and sometimes worse. Its not a dam melee games.
The lack of visibility in this game is not adding to the atmosphere, its so far over the line that its just annoying as hell, in every map, on every F!&@#ing match!!!

Same thing is with some lighting, but I'm afraid Devs won't do anything about it. :steamfacepalm: :steamsad:

I'd be fine with fog if it was limited to planets that have it as a modifier or on d6+ bug missions, but right now 90% of planets have fog to some degree and it just gets tedious.
It's why I love the moon biome. No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fog.
I'd be fine with the fog if every enemy couldn't see through it while players can't.
If you turn the fog off this game looks awful, seriously.

Im not defending its usage but if you hide it with reshade for example, it looks like a 2013 game instead, things past 50m have very low LOD models.
This mod helps a bit.

Something is better then nothing
I've been on missions with 0 weather effect modifiers where you literally cannot see anything because of the weather.
Its so they dont have to render parts of the map you cant see.
