Is super earth ever gonna win?
don't think Super Earth even won once with the peak player base we had.

(please don't bring "blame the mortar farm" into the discussion. there will always be a % of people farming particular mission.)

I'm sure the intention since this Launch is for us to experience "Losing" so that we CAN experience the setting of Super Earth to be invaded. Otherwise we would have already finished this Galactic War weeks ago but that's why they have the Game Master in charge to ensure we didn't steamroll things. And surely with the massive player count each day, they had to adjust so much for that for each planet and intended to make every galactic end of the occupied world as difficult as it can from being realistically possible to liberate.

Back in Helldivers 1, we RARELY saw a complete defeat but it did happen and we didn't have the massive player count, let alone 100k players. So, like I mentioned before, we aren't intended to "Win" right away.

Super Earth is entirely on the defensive and that's not exactly a positive but it's not entirely a negative either. The player base typically repels invasions and retakes planets when they crop up as missions. What we need is a means to invade planets and we'll see a full scale war at its height.

Narratively, I don't think that's what they are going for at the moment. I don't think we'll ever actually get to a point where we're launching deep assaults into enemy territory. We're likely going to be stuck defending the same areas for a long, long time.

Doubtful we'll ever approach anything resembling a win. In fact, things are likely to get far worse for Super Earth when/if the third enemy faction joins the party.
Lorewise Super Earth can't really win because it gets in its own way. It makes enemies in unscrupulous ways. Like America if one war finishes in defeat or victory, there's always another brewing to feed the empire

That's what I heard some dissident say. He was dumb, sure, but now his IQ is absolute 0 after that AA cannon blew his head off.

Mortar farms sure don't help, but the amount of farming you can actually do in this game is limited. You only need so many medals. Once farmers max out, they'll just quit or actually start playing for real.

until all factions are shown I doubt they'll release that event , for now is constant war until the plot thickens

not as long as the whole thing is rigged. having a GM sitting there deciding to wipe our progress or have planets randomly lost really just ruins the entire experience

as you mentioned, we rarely lost a war in HD1, until I logged back in recently and saw Super Earth lost twice. and that's understandable since there's little to no one playing.

But even if "how many people playing" isn't a decision factor of whether we win or not in HD2, I still don't see why we are not winning OR losing. it's been 4 weeks and there's almost no change to the war. not to mention the Illuminate isn't even part of the war yet.

I think the intention is just to "drag things on"... since it doesn't really matter if we win or lose, the game reset anyway.

yeaaaa... it's true GM have control of the game, but it's no fun when GM is more or less working for the enemies.

The GM MUST work for the Enemys because otherwise we would totally win after just a few Days, and then?

Game over, you won, next Game? ^^

The GM prolonging encounters due to players jumping in to complete the weekly mission is likely some back-end testing and data analysis. If you can get 260,000+ players feeding you meta data, I can understand why you'd keep the planet at certain %'s. Even if it's detrimental to some degree.

Win? Well, for example we literally just won the defence against the automatons on the mech factory world. Also in the first week we were SLAPPING the bugs out of entire quadrants

yea, next game, with stronger enemies, new enemies, new challenges? the point of a game is to progress, win or lose no? that's the way Helldivers game is designed. and there doesn't seem to be a rule or pattern for people to follow for the game.

IF it all depends on GM's feeling, then players should have gotten 5 free wins just for the number of copies sold so far, right? =p (they expected 100k, but supposedly sold over 4 million?)

right now it almost feels like they just want to extend play time and sell ingame stuffs.

and now we are pushed back on both front. why? we needed 400k concurrent players to "consistently" push back the regions?

and the win/lose I am talking about is winning/losing the WAR, not the battles.
