inb4 hardcore slaves whine that its too powerful and doesnt need that kind of buff and should get nerfed too
And that's also why I started spitballing along these lines. It enables mech-oriented play to become more viable as a playstyle, but it doesn't directly buff the mech in any way, and bad players will just get blown up so it doesn't help them at all.
Would be cool to see the extract airframe grapple and haul out the mech if Mech was in a designated "X marks the spot" on the extract LZ as part of the extraction cut scene. Bonus points and or a few bonus medals for squad if you extract with Mech.
It'd also fit in with current balance. We can bring a second stratagem in the form of a resupply backpack, that gives us functionally unlimited ammo with any weapon (so long as it itself doesn't require a backpack). Allowing us to take a second stratagem to specialise further into mech play would fit in nicely.
