Here is why.
"Primary weapons
First I’d like to speak to the general power of primary weapons. Many have commented that they aren’t powerful enough and are unable to deal with all the enemies either by the amount of ammunition required or their raw DPS. This is very much intentional, you need to rely on your Stratagems, and the Stratagems of your team to deal with all the enemies effectively. Either by Eagle Airstrikes, Orbitals, Support Weapons, or Turrets, some of your loadout/team should be tailoring their loadout to killing the weaker stuff more efficiently.
This doesn’t mean that your primary weapon shouldn’t feel good to use, but please understand that it is primary only in the sense that it’s something you always spawn with."

Didn't you GET THE MEMO!?!?!? The Devs WANT the Primaries to be USELESS! that's why they nerfed the Breaker and made the Spray & Pray do 1 Extra armour PENETRATION DAMAGE!!!! SO IT COULD FINALLY 1 ♥♥♥♥ EGGS!!!!! YOU SHOULD BE GREATFUL to the devs for even letting you have a PISTOL! you GREEDY UNGREATFUL RODENT!
But yeah In all seriousness I agree, The Anti-Material Rifle needs a Buff and Primary weapons should be a bit more reliable instead of "okay I got past difficulty 4... Time to never use primary weapons for anything except the scav now"
But you know what REALLY needs a buff? the Ballistic Shield... It's dead content... I want to be able to run sub machine gun with ballistic shield and bash peoples face with it, too bad it gets destroyed way too quickly and doesn't even stop half the bullets flying at you crouching or not.
(oh and the first half of this comment was a joke btw encase some of you didn't get it.)
While I would like solid primaries the problem is it would conflict with the design and use of stratagems. Okay. Let's say they give us guns that can handle anything in the game but the armored things, things like Chargers or Titans. Great. Now you have practically zero use for stratagems apart from those threats. You could use them but why? Your guns are just as effective or more effective.
I was honestly really surprised they made that post. Given a pretty large majority of the player base feedback is "i feel like i cant kill anything and playing with randoms is a horrid experience due to a total lack of team play." Actually running into a "good" team while doing quickplay rarely happens and it seems pretty clear, atleast in my own humble opinion, that the devs are indeed NOT playing any difficulty higher than like 5. I fully believe that if they were playing higher difficulties AND playing with randoms, they would realize their "just work as a team and use stratagems" mentality is straight up flawed. Especially when they add effects like idk, longer call in times, longer cooldown times/re-arm times, and the absolute crowd favorite, randomized stratagems. And lets not forget that all of that is on top of the 10 million ads you have to kill, because you cant outrun them. Half of which are heavily armored and the 1 really good tool we had to counter them is now a shadow of its former glory. Its outstandingly clear that the devs dont play their own game, nor listen to player feedback, and then insult you when you criticize their changes or try and present better changes. The "brainless build" was just the most effective at keeping us alive while we spend 40 minutes running for our ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lives with no reprieve.
"Make better changes devs, not brainless ones." -The community you'll never listen to.
They do need to fix the sights/scopes in this game, they are absolutely not zero'd to the center of the Reticle and the reticles are way too obstructive. The green dot on the Railgun is GIGANTIC.
So why do we get penalties increasing the cooldown times in higher difficulties if we have to rely on Stratagems?
AMR for everything else.
I find myself proned out sniping bots my team has aggroed from the flank a lot, it's fun.
