Keylogger in your kernel - I'm doing a GDPR-report
Yup. Don't know how it'll go, but as it seems that it's impossible to get rid of the anticheat-program AND it's basically a keylogger AND that NProtect has been having issues with their users' information being exploited since 2008 (the latest security certificate is from 2008 as well), I believe there's a chance for refunds. Personally I'd like compensation for a new computer as well, as I really cannot use this computer to pay my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bills anymore.
Keylogger that is ALWAYS ON.. like wtf..

Wait until someone tells him that every major anti cheat programm is kernel level and that they literally require that to work. My man out here has no idea about how any of this works and calls it a keylogger lol.

Devs are proper paranoid about everything, wonder if they smoke weed.

I was horrified to hear of this, how can any game studio use such an unreliable and dangerous form of software manipulation. That is basically a malware that one can be sure is used by criminal elements. Had I known these kinds of things are possible, would definitely not have bought and installed any game that has this nProtect GameGuard. Hope EU officials take this seriously.

Thank you for taking this up!

Good luck with that. But since IT industry is kinda living in it's own reality, successes is veeeery unlikely.
The only thing you can do right now is to use nProtect uninstall tool "gguninst.exe" right in the game directory and hope that it works:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\tools

I mean, without paranoid protection in an coop game people could maybe have cheated in exosuits before the actual release.... oh, wait.... :steammocking:

WHen you uninstall the game, there are still files in common/helldivers2/bin/Gameguard

The anticheat is not properly uninstalled from the machine.

You're right, I forgot about that. But those files can be easily removed. Still, one can only hope that nProtect truly ceases to work after that.

if kernel level anticheat worked, why does every single game have cheats and bots in them? do you also believe companies and CEO and shareholders have your best interests in mind?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NProtect_GameGuard

"GameGuard uses rootkits to proactively prevent cheat software from running. GameGuard hides the game application process, monitors the entire memory range, terminates applications defined by the game vendor and INCA Internet to be cheats (QIP for example), blocks certain calls to Direct X functions and Windows APIs, keylogs keyboard input, and auto-updates itself to change as new possible threats surface."

I guess it's like a boiling point. You know that our private information is being gathered by pretty much every app, but then you see a PvE coop game with potentially vulnerable, kernel level anti-cheat and you just go bananas.
