MECHs (lol)
Why would you ever use these? I guess in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ situation it is better to use up their health pool while maybe dishing out some damage, but they are slow, the gatling is not very impressive, the missiles horrible to aim in 3rd person, you can't refill ammo, you can't melee, and you have some minor armor on the side that the enemy has to try to hit. In exchange it costs 20k req, you need to be lvl 25, and it has a 10 min cooldown and 2 uses.
It's a joke, devs clearly don't play anything over hard.

I used to inconvenience my teammate lol

well serious answer i use it to have fun maybe use it couple times before ditching it.

but yeah right now the mech its just like good for holding position or assaulting big bases, but from what i heard that rocket devastator can kill this mech quite easily, a chaff unit can kill our high tier equipment

Is 20k a lot tho? You make 8k on helldivers difficulty/game.
10 min cooldown also sounds ok, else everyone would be constantly spamming mechs.

Is their health pool that low? I cannot play currently due to the unknown error but the cooldown does not sound bad unless they are very weak.

Sounds about right for what it does. You can clear 3-6 heavies at once if your team distracts them. That's a decent impact
Pretty useless against bots tho
I wish aiming was better too, it puts you so much far back you can barely see anything

Yeah it kind of is :S
And you can't reliably clear enemies that are close to you, so they just come up and bite yo ass

Then don't use them.

idk i hopped in a mech and killed like 5 bile titans on difficulty 7 in a terminid extermination mission. Was pretty cool.

A big part of being a helldiver is that you and everything on you is expendable. You're supposed to have equipment that makes you feel strong and then you die anywhere cause you get overconfident lmao.

I bet even a stray rocket bot can kill or seriously damage you, I can't be bothered to test it.

20k is a lot relatively to other stratagems. I think the previous max was 10k. It has 2 uses too, so people wouldn't spamm it.

Do folks just forget that basic balancing is never targeted along the highest or lowest difficulties?

It goes down in like 2 bot rockets

Its only use is for extraction. It runs out of ammo too quickly and has zero survivability.

We also don't know what kind of ship upgrades are coming for the mechs. Whatever the mechbay will do could make a decent difference in how durable/powerful the mechs will be compared to right now. That said, whenever the upgrades station drops (IF it drops), we don't know what kind of upgrades will be available for stratagems, if any.

All in due time. Use it, don't use it. Just enjoy the game and continue blasting away at the enemies of Super Earth.

its a lot if youre a casual player. Like if you got suckered into the jump pack or the gas strike. Doesnt matter if youre max level tho

A big issue is that I used it in a lvl 3 mission and it was just....kinda bad. Huge target, slow, and low HP. At starting mission levels it shouldn't need extensive ship upgrades. The default mech should be "good enough" against low bot pops and low tier enemies. If it could tank 4 rockets or be repaired I think that'd be a good balance before any upgrades needed in the higher levels.

I see a lot of misinformation here.

1. The mechs out run enemies, I've tested it only with the bugs but I was able to walk away from patrols chasing me and they couldn't catch up. I did make sure to kill the hunters, because they do have potential to close a short gap with their flight.

2. You can melee with the F key, the mech does a stomp. There might be a bug preventing you from doing this however, I had that happen during one of the my missions.

3. The gun does work, I've manged to use 1k rounds to clear a good amount of enemies through burst fire, often picking off the tougher but not heavily armored bugs with it.

4. This is more of an opinion, the rockets always go where the aiming reticle goes, i found it to be easy to aim where I wanted it.

Some notes: I notice the shield bubble from the backpack covered the front of the mech, this might help combat it's low HP pool against bots though I have not tested it.

the ship upgrades at best turn stratagems into how they should be rather than buff them.

i honestly dont know how you can say "just wait" and "enjoy it" in the same breath
