No, really. I enjoy Automaton missions a lot more than Terminid ones. Even if they both have something I really do not like; Chargers and Cannons.
If it's the Tanks you struggle with, try and hit them with impact grenades. Any two grenades that hit the sides or back of the cannon will destroy them (easier with Annihilator Tanks than it is with Shredder Tanks). If not, I recommend the Eagle 110 Rocket Pods since they tend to 1-2 shot the tank.
If it's Devastators you struggle with, try bringing precision weapons and aim for their heads. One good shot from a Senator, Anti Material Rifle, Slugger, or Diligence is enough to bring them down. You can also use grenades on the Shield Devastators to blow their shield arm off, making them easier. Pro tip about Rocket Devastators; if they lean towards you, they are about to fire their rocket salvo. Dive left or right and stay down for a sec to increase your chances of the Devastator missing!
If it's the Tower Turrets... I don't know on this one. They just kill you from miles away. If you're looking at them, they flash right before they kill you allowing you to dive to safety. I kinda want a sound cue or something for these guys.
If it's Automaton Infantry... just shoot them. The Breaker family of guns is great for them, as well as the two pump shotguns (the Punisher and Slugger). If you can afford it, the Scorcher one shots them to the torso most of the time too.
If it's the Chainsaw Devastators, just keep backpedaling. They are slower than light/medium armor divers, so just keep moving while laying the punishment on them. I feel that the standard machine gun tears through them the fastest.

It is the sort of physicanarrative dissonance that I will just choose to accept because the gameplay is fun.
In the same way if a rocket hits cover and send me flying, I will just choose to accept that because the gameplay is fun and something rather than nothing would have happened using real physics anyway. I do not desire ArrowHead to go all Red Faction on us regarding the level/map generation, but I would welcome it if we could.
Mr Owl, how many Hellbombs does it take to get to the center of a tootsiepop?
Or a mountain?
I also like that many of their medium armor troops have heads you can shoot with primaries and take down quickly if you're good enough.
It just feels a lot more tactical/skillful fighting them than the bugs.
