Did they buff/fix the SPEAR?
Been messing around with it, and I don't seem to be having the infamous janky lock on problems so many people were having.

Only times I've seen an issue is if the mob is being partially obscured by smoke or fog at a relatively decent distance away (greater than 40-50m away based on my testing)

If so, this is a welcome change, though, not sure if I'd want to take this thing too often on a PUG/Randoms game, since it requires more team work to use well compared to the Recoiless Rifle that is a bit more versatile (and has more reserve ammo as far as I can tell)

Nope, not fixed.

Not in the known issue too, and that's more worrying.

It didn't like to lock in 3rd person, but using the reticle seemed ok.

Dunno, I've not had any real issues with it.

1. Hover over big scary mob, wait for triangle to appear.
2. Place dot in triangle to make sure lock is achieved
3. wait for triangle to turn green (if it does not, relocate and try again/make sure no obstructions)
4. ensure target is sufficiently far away enough
5. Profit

Did this multiple times, and didn't seem to have an issue with the targeting. Maybe it'll be worse if I were to play on a planet with dust storms or heavy rain?

I had no real issue with lock on in either 1st or 3rd person view post patch. Hmm, odd. If they did do a stealth fix, I'm okay with that.

Farthest I've had a lock on so far was 143m away on a Charger.

You can basically shoot accross the map already if you get it to aim...
The Automaton towers, fabricators and spore clusters are easy targets you can shoot from >200m

I believe its a bug about enemies being decided they are obscured by smoke by simply having a toenail in the ground that is near any form of fog. Even biletitans. Not 100% sure but yes the bug is still there. The spear will sometimes simply refuse to lockon to enemies even if they fill your entire screen in the lockon.
Tried it for some runs. At the beggining I didn't encounter the lock on issue, but after sometime it began. It is so inconsistent with it's preferences for the lock on distance (if it even does lock on). Sometimes it does lock on a Charger 30 meters away form me, but then doesn't lock on a Hulk 50 metes away. It is very inconsistent with targeting Mortar towers, Hulks, sometimes Chargers and Bile Titans. Even a slight obstacle like a bush or even a little smoke cloud can make it hard to lock on onto something.

spear will now rearm from regular ammo packs lying around, no need for a resupply.

This alone has boosted its versatility massively.

Lock on is still janky af but I'm kinda warming to it, it's like an early version AGM-65 lol
