Dev is openly mocking players on Reddit
https://old.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1b7wc4z/patch_01000100_for_pc_balance_changes/ktlzaoc/

Yikes.

It seems to me that every change they've made has been to artificially handicap players in the most unfun way possible. Randomly resetting liberation percentage when players win more than they want, and then now this.

The only "brainy" way to play the game according to this dev is to infinitely kite elites on light armour until you take objectives, which can be done for sure. Heck, I've done it a few rounds experimenting with the Scythe on Helldive, and won, but the experience only made me want to stop playing.

Handicapping progression is what allows them to stretch out the little bit of content they developed so far over a very long period of time for the sake of their drip feed live service model. I cannot see another reason why the warbonds are so extremely barebones and requires so much grind, and why they'd choose to nerf interesting weapons people actually want to use.

The sorry state of modern gaming. The core gameplay is GOTY material for me but everything else have been handled in the worst possible way.

Edit:

I can't think of a single industry in which you could insult your customers just because they give negative feedback.

But somehow for video games, so many wind up developing a parasocial relationship with a studio, and I'd not have expected see people so militantly defending the devs like they could do no wrong, loudly decrying and mocking and belittling those who disagree with some major changes made

Edit 2:

CEO apologises and says that dev's behaviour was unacceptable. Good on you Pilestedt

Here's the better link that doesn't look like a 1995 forum page and is more pleasing to the eyes

Dev: Claps back in any regard.

Gamers: WTF THATS SO IMPROPER OF THEM.

Regardless of what I expected, it seem that I got sesquipedalian loquaciousness from you.

They probably realized they can't ban everyone on reddit so pulled a "You can't fire me, I quit!" in spite of being the devs that made the game.
Eudicots Mar 6, 2024 @ 10:48pm
How is this "mocking players"? Seems like a pretty tame response with a pretty good justification.

The ones enjoying the game and accomplishing things through teamwork in the harder difficulties aren't here complaining.

It's just the vocal minority ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about everything, as they always do, in every subject, game, movie, and other franchise.

And the Devs of HD2 know it.

I hope they keep clapping back.

I haven't seen any death threats here.

Also, in any other industry any professional openly showing such contempt to their paying customers would be immediately fired, no questions asked, even if the recipient kinda deserved it.

If you hate your audience, keep it on your private Slack channels or something, lmao.

Seriously, there's something about video games that emotionally regresses a lot of people back to age 13. It's hilarious.
