but someone mentioned earlier it might have been better to nerf it around the release of the mechs and vehicles and whatnot, and that i agree with
There really is just no comparison to the rail gun. Which doesn't say as much about the rail gun as it does about the other options. Only a few weapons will hit through heavy armor anyway and only a few stratagems will hit through heavy armor as well. Couple those few stratagems with cool down times and call in times (not to mention effects like 100% call in and 50% cool down) and 7+ difficulty become tedious. 8+ becomes ridiculous with the sheer volume of armored enemies rushing you from all angles.
if you twist my arm, yeah, it sucked against chaff, but it's literally impossible to join a game w/o having a chaff killer, so i find it to be a moot point. the railgun did everything fine, and usually better than weapons dedicated to that particular task (spear v railgun against a titan)
that you've had a tough time using literally anything else is proof positive of how OP railgun was compared to other options.
The issue is then we went weeks where that is all some people used, they basically only came to know how to play the game using the Railgun.
So, outside of those that want to throw a actual meltdown over it, those that overly relied on it are going to have to 'detox' off of how OP it was and its going to take some getting used to as one explores other options.
-- Or just use it on unsafe and redline it non-stop and basically be the same as before the nerf lmao.
this part clearly shows you haven't tried the railgun after the patch, using double the shots to clear chargers leg armor on average isn't the same as before in any way of the sense.
Except I've cracked the front of a charger's leg off in two shots?
Maybe its you that hasn't played the patch? Or maybe don't know how to actually overcharge the railgun properly?
people keep saying use the spear as if the lock on actually works and the projectile won't randomly just fly through the target and not explode (had this happend multiple times post patch) plus the ammo reserves are horrible to refill it you need a full resupply call in, all 4 packs for the spear guy.
then they say use the recoilless like it won't use my entire team's ammopacks to resupply after 1 engagement with 5-7 chargers and a couple bile titans. also good luck solo reloading that thing, and good luck trying to team reload aswell on higher difficulty when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan.
turrets yeah they'll totally prioritize the right target, and totally won't blow themselves up lol. you're not even allowed to properly place turrets ontop of rocks/cliffs so they can stay alive because the stratagems for callin bounces off of the cliffs.
had they waited with this nerf untill we had mechs/vehicles or something else to fuilfill the role of big boy armor busting reliably then i really couldn't care less about which gun i'm shooting at the big baddies, i just want one that works and currently i don't feel like i have any other answer to the ammount of chargers+biles that spawn except for run away from them because they're too much of a hassle to reliably deal with, and i just find that undemocratic in nature to leave big bugs like that alive.
Spear gets reloads from blue and yellow packs.
No skin off my back that you don't want to accept the reality that its still useful and can still frontal crack in two shots if you 90%+ charge it.
Enjoy your skill issue diagnosis, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
