New Laser Cannon?
I'm trying the new laser cannon but it doesn't really seem good. The dev post about it said it was supposed to "drill" into enemies like the orbital laser, but it doesn't seem to do anything to a charger leg. So is it meant for medium armor like the autocannon, or what is its role meant to be now? Has anyone had any success with it?

It's a crowd control weapon it's not for things like Chargers, Hulks, & Bile Titans. It does penetrate medium armor now so it can be actualized as a cc weapon. It used to be the worst in it's niche but now it's the best imo you just need to know when & where to use it.

Aim for the back of the charger...

Its ight, it takes a long time to kill things still is the problem.
Your almost better off just taking the grenade launcher still.

with the update it's very good against hulks and bots in general. Aim for the head, stay there for about 2s and the hulk is gone. The weapon has crazy range too, it's just very meh against tanks and terminids

Eh, that's not fairly compelling. The "Chargers temporarily lose all of their armor" thing is almost definitely a bug. Guess it's going back on the shelf.

It's not that they lose all their armor but their legs become vulnerable because the armor desyncs with their hurtboxes exclusively when their turning after a charge.I kinda hope this stays because it feels balanced at the higher levels.

The laser cannon feels like the Scythe should feel...

not strong enough to be a strategem weapon

They're just wrong. It's honestly baffling how out of touch they are with their own game. The laser cannon is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just like before.

The laser cannon is usable now but still needs to dish out more damage before overheating. If it could last like 50% longer then it would be a great weapon for mobs.

I don't mind the laser canon being, well, kinda bad against armored enemies. I'd *prefer* that it bore into them but it doesn't.

What would be nice is if it had more interaction with the world. Let me cut down a whole bunch of trees with one swipe so I can see all those bugs coming my way or let me cut a building in half so it falls over. Things like that would make it not only fun but kinda useful.

It'll splash against the armor, so you'll end up just aiming for butt as per usual with other weapons, but with a recharge based ammo that gives you a lot of leeway. Flamethrower works better in terms of ignoring armor but you'll still have to stand there a while to cook it. Arc thrower works the exact same as now, friendly fire and such.

All of these things aren't going to cut it at higher difficulties, so it's just best to play at the "dumb weenie" midtier difficulty for now while everybody else gets an aneurysm trying to prove that the game is fun and balanced above that.

Highest optimal play remains antitank/recoilless for now but it'll be rougher leaning on that in a chaotic situation.
