I'd like to see more CC added to the game and you make a great point about the gas as well. It should slow or cripple them like the EMS does. EMS mortor, strike and tesla shouldnt be the only CC options. We need more Crowd Control.
I've yet to try the Rail Gun since the patch, but Flame Thrower feels better. It just needs one more thing such as a CC - slow or cripple effect to make it truly viable.
Imagine the bugs being aware that "fire bad" and communicate with the Hunters or Stalkers to take out the Helldiver with the fire.
Unsafe mode. The Railgun is fine. It's not as good at just hitting random pieces and killing armored bugs, but weakspots still take full damage.
Xenomorphs were highly intelligent and had a hive mind queen guiding their every action. A charger is a big ole brute who just seems to want to run you over.
