Since we're dealing with balance now, let's talk about the slugger.
Punisher: 405 damage, light armor penetrating.
Description: A powerful dual magazine pump action shotgun, with limited armor penetration. Ideal for small and fast targets.

Slugger: 280 damage, light armor penetrating.
Description: A modified punisher shotgun firing heavy, High-damage slug rounds. Perfect for punching big holes in big targets.

So... why is the punisher more than 100 damage higher than the gun described as a high damage modification? Why does the gun "perfect for punching big holes in big targets" have the same armor pen as the gun that does not? Its not like we're overburdened by medium armor pen options in this game.

Don't expect logic from Arrowhead , just roll with whatever they do. That's the standard here. We are a cult.

They do not have the same armor pen. The slugger is not labeled correctly and is medium. The damage difference is due to higher pen.

I hadn't noticed it performing any better against armored targets during the admittedly short time i tried it out. Though a company that bothers to give you stats on in game things should at least attempt to make sure that info is accurate. I guess with the plethora of other issues this game is having accurate stats is a low priority.

The slugger shoots one big slug.
The Punisher fires bunch of pellets where IF every single shot hits, it deals 405 damage and the damage falls off at range fast.

Sluggers range falloff is less and it deals that 280 damage in a go at range.

Good example, the Devastators.
Shoot a devastator with the Punisher and you will notice it will need a lot more hits to kill than Slugger.
Since slugger can ONE shot them at medium to close range.
While Punisher cannot.

The Slugger can also damage some of the armored targets pretty well.
Works against medium armor but the problem is that I think armor is classified under having a certain damage in order to pen.
So if it's under X amount of damage, No pen.

Good example being sentinel walkers, the shield bugs.

Not that they couldn't use some adjustments, especially with penetration on the Slugger, but the difference is that the Punisher fires several projectiles at once and the Slugger fires only one as far as I know. I imagine that 405 damage on the Punisher is probably if every projectile hits. Each individual projectile probably does a lot less damage on its own.

Weapon description is off on a lot of weapons though. Slugger obliterates anything but heavy armor. It also staggers, which is a godsend.
The slugger, if you know how to use it (the recoil and aiming speed are super slow and easy to disturb) is actually way better than the breaker in every way. It's a high-skill gun though, so don't expect people to even know it's good, not to mention, that most people haven't even unlocked/tried it yet.

you can 3 shot hiveguards straight through their headplate with the slugger vs not being able to damage them with the punisher
