Yeah, we can all see how it is.
Definitely allowed. I gave my subjective opinion as all opinions are in regard to what "looks good."
1080p does not look good to me. 1080p looks good to you.
Neither of us is wrong. My advise would be to increase the resolution if possible. Your advise would be?
Modern game is a subjective term as well but I would definitely challenge that the technology used in this game in antiquated. Cutting edge? Maybe, maybe not depending on what custom tech they have incorporated.
I can say without much reservation at all that at 4K Ultra the game looks good. Since the OP is using Ultra settings already the easiest adjustment I feel the Op can make is adjust the resolution.
The OP could try playing around with reShade or see if there is anything good on Nexus mods but both would require a bit more effort.
Ultimately, to each their own.
Plus older engines usually have more features, albeit less graphics capability, compared to modern ones.
Physics in modern games for example is practically non existent, hardware acceleration 3d audio is a thing of the past and so on.
Fatshark (Who co-founded Bitsquid, the people who made the engine before Autodesk acquired it) are still keeping it up to date and modern. Look at Warhammer 40K: Darktide. The game looks fantastic. Its art direction and assets are gorgeous.
Besides, how Helldivers 2 looks is less to do with the engine itself and more so its art direction and the quality of its assets.
Personally, I don't think the game is ugly.
