I mean, there's armor that reduces detection rate, you can crouch and prone and not just for accuracy of the weapons.
Maybe stop being triggered by nothing.
stop whining that other people play different then you.
You're not my supervisor!
It more closely resembles an extraction shooter.
You can play it like a horde shooter if you want, but retreating and stealthing are both viable, and often useful, tactics.
Avoiding patrols and being sneaky is a viable strat. In fact, it's most optimal, as staying and fighting in one location actually results in patrols around the area advancing on your position because they will follow the noise. That ends up leading your team to be stuck in the blender. This is especially worse when the timer starts getting closer to 0. The longer you stay on the map, the worse the enemy presence gets. It's also why running away and breaking line of sight is more effective for survivability than it is staying and fighting.
Calling it a hoarde shooter is flat out wrong. It's a tactical squad and objective based shooter.
Remember, you can't be seen if there is no one else around you.
The stealth in HD2 is actually quite good, as in the enemies are programmed in a way that allows for it to work.
This is TECHNICALLY untrue. The timer itself does not affect enemy presence. Rather, being near objectives and completing them is what causes enemy presence to increase.
So by all intents and purposes, since you would theoretically be completing objectives as the match goes on, it does increase to a degree the longer the match goes on. But enemy presence basically maxes out the moment you complete the primary objective, and doing nothing sitting in a corner of the map the entire time won't increase presence at all.
There's a big reddit post made by players who did some extensive testing on this subject here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/s/gfy9WgaQBf
Long story short; if you want to prevent overwhelming numbers, do the primary objective LAST, as patrols will be maxed out once you do this. Also don't stay near objectives for too long, as this makes patrols spawn more frequently until you either leave the area or complete said objective.
Lol this doesn't even require "stealth", it just requires not firing at every single patrol that happens to be in your line of sight.
A lot of players seem to keep picking fights and wasting reinforcements on the never-ending waves of enemies, then wasting more reinforcements on going back for the samples they dropped because they just can't fathom not killing every last enemy in their hemisphere.
Meanwhile, I just nope out and go do the objective, then reinforce them on top of me to try and drive home the hint that we should be MOVING TO DO THE OBJECTIVES, not sitting in one spot for a 30 minute firefight.
My guy the game literally tells you this
