IF YOU ARE STILL CRASHING READ THIS!!!!!! FIX INCLUDED!!!!!!
Today...after weeks of hell I finally found out the issue with my crashing. It's gameguard, I have literally tried everything under the sun. here was some of the things I tested before I found the problem (and a fix)

everything listed below did not fix the problem
1. I tried a 7900xtx as well as a 2080 super both had the issue
2. turning off global illumination.
3. setting the graphics to potato.
4. temp testing and power consumption monitoring showed no issues
5. verifying local game files in steam
6. running the game as an administrator
7. Underclocking my ram, CPU, GPU,
8. Every video card driver I could find
9. reinstalling the game from scratch.
10. Frame limiting the game

Here is what finally fixed it, as far as I can tell.

Open the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\tools folder (or wherever you installed the game), in there you will find an uninstaller and a setup file for game guard anticheat. run the uninstaller as admin, run the setup file as admin. restart your computer and try the game again. I was literally crashing ever 15 minutes or less now I can complete missions back to back.

I'm going to go back and turn my ram back to full speed now :P

What made me suspicious of the anti-cheat is that it seemed like, if i stay on the ship I don't crash I could leave it for hours no problem. But it was only when I would get into a game that I would crash.

Then I read up on the anti-cheat they use and I guess it's really kernel level access...which just isn't needed especially for a PVE game. Whoever makes that anti-cheat needs a new team and to start over on the code...because it's garbage.

It's amazing to me that reinstalling the game didn't reinstall the anti-cheat either. Without doing this specific fix I likely have had to reformat the computer and start from scratch to fix this issue.

Ya figures. I have a sneaky supicion that sony might have had a hand in"choosing" what program should be featured.

I had that.
Had to afk and left the game on for an hour-ish. (was not intentional to be gone that long)
First mission i played when i came back.. crashed within 2 minutes.

What's funny is the anti-cheat doesn't even stop cheaters

So, in other words... You are literally saying that the one reason why you were always crashing is because of hard drive file corruption.

In other words: an issue on your end.
