If you have anxiety issues, the mic is the least of your worries.
You can set waypoints, ping points of interest + enemys.
Dont listen to ppl who might come ihn here and say "you need voice in higher dif".
Thats bull$hit.
Played over 70h with random matchmaking without a mic.
Some do, I found some randoms who use a mic, The advantages of using a mic help a lot. The biggest advantage I found if you all communicate is on using Strategens, if someone says they are calling down say a 500KG bomb it stops the other 3 players from doing the same and wasting strategens.
To be honest it's been ok talking with people, all been mature. It's probably the only game where no one calls you names or swears. I think actually chatting is the cure to bad games with toxic behaviour (like World of Tanks for example). If you talk trash people can ban you or call you out on your behaviour in this game, so you won't get far by toxic behaviour and you would have to play on your own.
Watch https://youtu.be/yMvyTN5OAxU , it is funny.
Mic is completely optional, learn how to use Q and sometimes use the chat system.
That said it is cool AF when you can shout at a friendly over the mic "K3! Behind you! Uglies! Use your gun on them before they can taste your behind!"
I rarely encounter players who talk, and the times I do it usually boils down to stuff like:
"A4! There's a bug nest behind you! Can you take D2 and clean it up?"
"Chargers, CHARGERS!"
"Bunker here! Someone give me a hand with it!"
"Could you PLEASE position those turrets better? They're killing me more often than the bugs!"
The rest of the time, we just use map pings and the comms menu and it works well enough on difficulty 5.
Stop being anxious, or keep at it and allow it to rule over you like a master does a slave.
Don't listen to the people saying NO,. when you get to high level play it is almost necessary.
And if you want to make friends, play as a team then communication is necessary,. without it its like a single player game and you will always be stuck with scrub groups
