Help us spread democracy.
You love democracy, don't you?
As for developers being inept; The core gameplay loop is enjoyable, but the studio size and their inexperience with live-service and or game of this scope shows:
- Bugs fixes and balances changes at the same time. What could go wrong?
- Stability issues
- There are functions that aren't working properly since launch and they've yet to manage those things, some bigger, some smaller. Reinforcement bug has been since launch and I still encounter it.
Battlepasses and the like stay for when you want to unlock them, so you're not forced to get something and complete it in a given time, which is a huge bonus for me. Basically you can take a break from the game and come back whenever, and you haven't missed anything.
IF you can manage all the stability related issues, it is extremely fun even with randoms when it works. If you can put those things aside and tolerate them, I'd say it's worth your buck. If not, I'd wait for a little longer when/if things are a little bit more stable.
With that all said, the best results, are playing as a group, it is not really meant for solo play and the easiest groups, if you don't have buddies already playing, is to use one of the discords with thousands in the lfg to join up with, my preferred one is doom divers, but even the official channel has a lfg, just no chat channels for some reason (last I checked).
This. I'm close to changing my review to positive, but they need to fix crashing, and the spear. Until then, I don't recommend the game to people.
Game is good in that the gunplay is solid, the movement is decent, and the game is incredibly atmospheric.
But it is a game largely based around teamwork, playing solo isn't as fun or easy, so you'd be recommended to play with others.
I will say this game isn't overly punishing for us older folks who are starting to slow down a bit, but your brain needs to be sharp because you need to be decisive and accurate to stop yourself from being overrun.
It's a repetitive game, often running similar missions over and over, but the gunplay is so enjoyable for us that we don't mind. You need to devote time to the game to unlock everything you want though, nothing comes quickly.
I think it's worth the asking price.
So: Yes.
I have a rule of thumb for determining if a game was worth the money: I want at least a dollar per played hour ROI (Return On Investment).
As an example, if I paid $30 for the game, I expect to get at least 30 hours of play time in the game before moving on.
If a game gives me that, then it's worth it in my opinion... If it doesn't, it likely is not worth the price.
As it stands, I've had HD2 like 2 or 3 days and have pretty much already hit my ROI target...
