There is a way you can do it if you bring the right stratagem to the mission.
Type "⇧⇨⇩⇩⇩" and throw it next to you, wait a few seceonds and then you dont need to worry about your cape any more, also a more democratic helldiver will arrive shortly to pick up where you left off,
