Otherwise they seem to do little damage, you can juke them by just walking sideways so I haven't been hit too much to tell.
As for the nests, you're meant to go in and arm a hellbomb. It's not like other objectives that you can cheese with weapons and stratagems from afar. I kinda like it, it means it's actually a threat you have to care about rather than sling a 500kg and forget.

you know, they could actually shriek more to warn you, as their name implies
because they will onetap you like 25% of the time they hit and can appear up to a dozen of them, not to mention the damage of impacts in this game is still very random so they can sometimes oneshot you if their corpse lands on you.
I also did not get up close enough to the tree and toss 2 impact grenades at them
I can confirm this did the trick but I can not confirm what the trick was.
