Increase max stratagems?
Hi there. I suppose it's not the first time someone brings this to the table, but what do you guys think about the cap of 4 max stratagems per player during missions? I understand they can't go crazy and increase this limit like it won't break the game's balance, but the fact that we can "only" pick 4 makes me a bit sad, cause I feel like I'd like to be able to see/do more stuff with stratagems during missions (also considering they'll be adding more and more things, but still "you can only bring 4").

I mean, there's stuff like [getting into leaks/spoilers territory, just in case anyone doesn't want to read about this] this stratagem that lets you set a wall with a defense cannon/grenade launcher. I find that really cool, and brings potential for more stuff like that (I mean building/defensive options), but what stratagem do you drop so you can pick that? Same with the recon vehicle they are adding too. I feel like I'd like to be able to choose at least 5-6 stratagems, or even have X slots for air strikes, Y for support weapons/backpacks, Z for vehicles/structures... It would prolly require some difficulty adjustements, but I personally would prefer higher diff but more stratagems to deal with it.

Am I alone with this opinion? Cause whenever I bring something to Steam forums, I tend to find really hostile opposition to my suggestions :')

They have increased max strategems, during the experimental modifier missions, you get a spare free strategem - we had exosuits last week, and this week it's jet pack.

We're already clearing helldive difficulty against automatons with 3 slots that is more than enough.

Also, it makes the mission more fun when you have to strategise and choose what you bring rather than have everything.

If not, there's always hacks out there that let you use everything, see how 'fun' it is with everything unlocked and unlimited.

but you can have up to 16 stratagems... if playing with a group, which is the intended gameloop..
And thats more than enough

Yeah I totally agree. One stratagem per category also would be fine. Also I think it could be provided for lower levels of difficulty, like 1-4. And yet we have planets with modificator allowing to take only 3 stratagems per player on a mission.

You can't equip them both at the same time as they are both backpacks, it makes no sense.

And if it did, might as well say you'd like to run jet back, BOTH guard dogs, and shield pack, and just fly to the top of something and afk.

I disagree. Firstly, we had that same 16 stratagems in HD1... on shorter cooldowns, meaning we have effectively less here.

Secondly, I'm not an unholy amalgamation of four people, I'm a single individual, and I have fun screwing around with stratagems. I'd have more fun screwing around with more stratagems.

I'm not advocating that we simply have more slots, I think we should have more slots, but at least some of them are limited in what can be put in them. I don't want more stratagems so that I can take some kind of uber meta setup that can kill 73 bile titans per minute, I want more stratagems so that I can afford to take those slightly less useful stratagems along, the ones that always get edged out because they aren't quite practical enough.

Or even as a full squad, I'd truly love being able to at least have 1 support weapon, 1 air strike, 1 backpack, 1 vehicle and 1 turret; and that's already FIVE slots, while only picking one of each category (I mean, many times you want at least two different types of air strikes), and I'm not considering future stratagems like defensive buildings/walls or whatever they may add.

maybe, after they added more enemies and make the game harder, it would be nice to upgrade your destroyer to a bigger class ship, giving you new ship upgrades and an additional strat slot could be a nice way to do that.

I'm not exactly against the idea of raising the stratagem slot limit to 5 or 6, but I very much doubt Arrowhead will go for it. 4 slots is what they've built their intended game balance around, and giving 1 more slot to each player would probably already have huge implications. Even if you restrict them to, say, 2 offensive stratagems, an extra EMS Mortar or Autocannon Sentry would certainly be noticeable in making missions consistently easier.

That's what hacks are for, you can unlock everything. The dev intended the game this way, you may as well ask them to change fundamental things like making it a top down shooter again, making us spawn as bugs or automatons, or just you know, have an I-WIN button on drop you can just press to get free super credits, free warbond medals, and free samples + max level all at once.

Change people's minds, why not change yours?

Shame its a backpack item this time, iv only seen 1 person use it so far.

I'd LOVE to see a few more "SUPPORT" stratgems, like bridge placements, mini tower sentries, "fake Helldivers" like our old corpes or whatever to distract enemies, etc.

I want to show my PATRIOTISM with MORE LIBERTY and FREEDOM to bring DEMOCRACY to the universe!!
