Too Many Enemies
For Automatons, I can barely even take a stim because I'm constantly getting shot and it keeps resetting the animation of me taking it. How in the hell am I supposed to deal with all these guys? There's too little firepower, and too many enemies at the higher levels.

the answer to too many enemies is always arc thrower

Smoke. That's basically all it's used for. When you feel overwhelmed use smoke to disengage.

Ah, that's actually a pretty good idea. I'll try that when I unlock the smoke grenade.

Also have someone suppress the bots, use cover, a balistic shield, a backpack shield if you are really bad or o down a difficulty or two until you learn to deal with them effectively, heck, try going prone!

Prone helps with that and all things that are interrupting you.

I've tried smoke before and half the time it doesn't actually seem to do anything. I feel like for the most part automatons are just simply way too accurate with their infinite ammo infinite range machine guns regardless of visibility, which they seem to have tons of spilling out of every corner, and going prone absolutely doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ to their accuracy. Robots seem largely immune to most kinds of suppression, and even when they get hit by something it only staggers them for like one second.

They also love to be in places without any surrounding cover, and their weapons seem designed to destroy cover extremely quickly.

arc thrower and cluster bomb

If they are receiving fire, not specifically being hit, they are less accurate, this is where the stalwart shines, just spray over everything, you won't be grabbing the kills but it makes it far easier for your team, I also find being prone makes me far less likely to be hit, if I'm not right on top of the bots, obviously.
