Clearly you're missing the head. The devs updated Chargers to take 1 EAT or Recoilless shot to the face to kill. Their head literally explodes.

Literally yes, hit the FOREHEAD, NOT the mouth which is closer to the body which you DON'T WANT.

If you hit the head of a charger straight on with a EAT it kills it guaranteed in 1 hit. If you hit it's neck or the side of it's head it requires 2 or some bullets to follow up but chargers are honestly not the worst thing in this game in my opinion.

The charger is actually the most easy "medium" sized enemy to kill. The only reason you should struggle against it is if you're fighting 2+ on your own in a corridor or stairway as large as them.

The 2 ways of killing them solo:

Common known way:
Wait for them to rush you while you got something hard behind you, jump to the side and they will stun themselves for ~8 sec on that hard thing behind you. Then shoot it in the butt.
This works, but isn't the fastest/best way. As it's still simple and only requires a bit of timing, it's the way many uses if they are alone.

The reason why it's not the best way is because their butt does have some armor, but that armor can be chipped off by most weapons in a few shots.

The Recoilless Rifle is actually not that great against its armor. You might want to chip off some of its butt armor before shooting it with it.

The Expendable AT works wonderfully at killing it from behind, armor or not.

The A-M Rifle works... kinda but the high recoil and low ammo count makes it easy to waste some shots. As much as you can kill it with 5 well aimed A-M Rifle shots, you can also waste 3 whole clip into it. The Arc gun may be

The Railgun can 1-shot it.

The Auto-Cannon is kinda like like the middle ground between the A-M and the Recoiless Rifle, but with the risk of killing yourself from the AOE effect if the Charger is too close (and it can easily be too close).

So, I previously mentioned 2 ways and the 2nd way allow anyone to kill any Charger in barely 2-4 secs. It's actually quite simple: Shoot and focus on 1 of its hind legs. It's front legs are heavily armored (but they can still be destroyed from a certain angle). The back legs are lightly armored. 3-4 shots from the Punisher can destroy a Charger's hind leg from close-up.

The tactic is a bit like the previous method where you jump on the side and shoot it from behind, but instead of shooting its big armored butt, you shoot the hind leg on the side you jumped. If you shoot the right spot, the leg comes off and the Charger spasms around and dies.
