How to add teammates as friend

During games with strangers I would like to send a friend request if I like how they play. Because to be honest I'm tired of dumbers who do stupid things like droping bombs in the middle of the evac zone, or put mines everywhere. How to add them?

Open the menu, and where it lists all the party members just click on who you want to add and click "send friend request." Do note though this just friends people in the game, If you come across a PC player and want to add them on steam you'll have to talk to them abt that in chat

Does the ingame friends system work for anybody?

I keep seeing topics about it and chiming in but nobody ever says anything besides "me too".
I've googled a bit but only found that renaming to something short and without symbols may help but my name is what is shown here so, yeah.

I have friends request that I would gladly accept that have been waiting for a week.
Is this been aknowledged by the devs?

When the game first came out all my steam friends were listed in-game.

Apparently that is a problem? Because shortly after that they all got removed and friends in-game has been mostly broken ever since.
