7900 XTX Severe Instability
What the hell is up with this game and this card, I've tried running both the current and previous driver but I am encountering crashes both hard to desktop and to the point where 1 of 2 monitors doesn't reconnect until the PC is fully restarted. The crashes are occurring almost 1 every 15 minutes or so and is resulting in a completely unplayable experience. This is the ONLY game to do this to this machine to date, the only other oddity was Enshrouded not having certain lighting working on the card but it didn't hard crash the f***ing system.

All AMD 7000 Series cards cannot play this game rn its annoying trust me I have the same card as u been trying all day to find a solution and nothing there's no solution at the moment apparently I heard if u put the graphics on the lowest settings it might work but I didn't buy a $1000 GPU to play on low so basically as of rn we either have to wait until the devs patch it or AMD release new drivers or u can get a refund

I noticed if you run the game and "window full screen" and not "full screen" it doesn't crash as much and you can lower some of the graphical settings down it should run with the card at least it does for mine. Please note your mileage very.

Worked for me since yesterday. Only one crash since:
1. Make your way to the Helldivers 2 “Options” tab from the pause menu. You can even do it from the main menu screen as soon as you log into the game.
2. Now make your way down to the Graphics section, and from there, turn off the feature Screen-Space Global Illumination.
3. While you are at it, switch off Anti-Aliasing as well. This, too, is likely going to help you prevent Black Screens and crashing in the future.

Yep I dropped $1600 CAD on this piece of ____ and between this, insane stuttering in Metro Exodus and lighting not being present in Enshrouded I feel like I've legit been scammed. I've tried the lowest settings and global illumination and AA off and it still crashed mid-mission. Whether it's because devs don't test properly on AMD systems or the hardware itself is flawed I am at my wits f***ing end for PC's at this point after just dropping nearly 5k on putting this together.

Reflection Quality and Screen-Space Global Illumination. Turn them off. Works without issues on my XTX.

AMD will update, but it’s a huge problem for now.

mine is RX 7800 XT, I had a GPU fans issue running at max speed, I could solve it by changing these settings:
1- Screen-space global illumination: off
2- Anti-aliasing: off
3- limit the FPS
it also helped some people to solve the CTD problem.
but in my case, after the last patch I get much better performance and I could play for 3 hours on high settings, anti aliasing on, FPS limit 80 and on ultrawide monitor without any problems, also don't get upset with your amd card, I have been an Nvidia/Intel user since 25 years, last November I made a hard turn and switched to a full AMD PC, never been happier and will never look back, there are some games that I used to play but with lots of problems on my old 4070 but after switching to AMD it is now 80% less issues, being an Nvidia/Intel user felt like living in a dark cave.

limiting the fps to a value between 60-80 seems to help.
also disabling screen space since that's ray tracing and the gpu goes to 100% instantly.
The drivers/pc/game crashes as soon as either cpu or gpu hit 100% usage.
Capping the clockspeed of the gpu to 2500mhz is a solution aswell if the fps cap doesn't work.

For me personally i had to:
cap fps to 60
all graphics on medium
render resolution to native
screen space and anti aliasing off

With these settings i can play "without problems". fps cap sucks a fat one but being better than not playing at all.

also turning off anti aliasing sucks but I had to do it, on what resolutions are you playing?

1440p. i honestly cant go lower, hurts my eyes after an hour of playing
Tendeep Feb 12, 2024 @ 7:05pm
7900xtx 129.8 fps avg on 3440x1440.

I crash now and again, but not often. I have to kill two graphics settings for stability.

This card is a beast, this game hates this card.

Its not the cards fault or AMD, fully. Given time AMD might work with this DEV and get a game ready driver pushed out.

I switched to the AMD 69XT series and then 7900XTX from Nvidia...my biggest regret. The driver crash is not just consistent on this game, but a good amount of other games I've played since the cards release. I'm not sure what is going on with AMD but I am definitely switching back to Nvidia when possible. For now, this is a solution I've used and has minimized a lot of crashing, especially with Helldivers 2.

1. Disable "MPO" for Windows.

2. Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). Once downloaded, run this in SAFE MODE (IMPORTANT) only and select the AMD option to uninstall all AMD drivers.

3. Download latest AMD graphic drivers, run it, and ONLY SELECT install "Driver's only"(MOST IMPORTANT) This will remove any adrenaline software, and will only install the AMD drivers necessary for the card to utilize. When having the Adrenaline software, it caused lag and crashes with Baldurs Gate 3, when I did "Driver's only" It never happened again.

4. Disable ALL hardware acceleration options in any of your browsers and Discord.

5. For Helldivers 2, I run everything on MAX but turned off, Screen-Space-Global Illumination off and Anti-alias.

6. My Motherboard (ASUS STRIX 670e-e) is also always up to date on the latest BIOS, may or may not help with stability.

This has minimized my crashing to maybe 1 to 2 every 6 or so hours. Good luck

My specs:
7900 XTX MERC310 XFX Speedster
AMD 7900X3D CPU
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB 6000MHZ CL30 AMD EXPO
ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming Motherboard.
