It's 2024 for pete's sake, it's not a hard concept to understand that people play games alone sometimes, and expecting 1 person to keep up with a spawn-rate designed for 4 players is the height of stupidity.
Try the grenade launcher or autocannon. Kills the bile bugs in two hits and wrecks smaller armored enemies in a single well-placed shot. Can also be used to close bug holes and even take out bonus objectives like spore spewers or illegal broadcasts. Not very effective against chargers, but you can bring other stratagems for that.
Also people dogging turrets are silly. Yeah, they're fragile, but they're the most efficient call-in in the game. One turret can easily kill 30+ enemies and take a ton of pressure off you. Just don't throw them in the middle of the enemies. Place them up on ridges or even behind you. Go prone in front of them so they can shoot over your head and they'll do a lot of work.
Turrets start finding a use as bait to lure patrols towards them (toss it out a distance away from you before you call down your gear), or as a decoy so the bugs chasing you get distracted by the turret and lose track of you as you once again become one with the foothills.
GL became my go-to over MG because it's easier to just dump the entire reload into a patrol with extreme prejudice to ensure no one survives and calls a breach. Supply backpack means you have plenty of ammo available.
Crouching seems to not draw their attention as much when you're getting away, makes me wonder if they're supposed to work off of a tremors model. Prone means bugs can walk past you when you haven't alerted them yet, or you can crawl pretty damned close to them before they realize you're there. Or just crawl past them entirely.
and yes i sympathise with you because i wish they do implement bot like bosco in deep rock galactic for solo player but its what devs want for the game so unless by some miracle they decide to support solo player i suggest you get comfortable playing with random for now
The GL can 2 shot Ticks (blobs) in an AOE meaning all of them clustered together will die. Just learn to move around the area and not stay in one place too long as to not get bogged down. Run away often if they're getting too much and get to a higher, elevated or sloped position.
"no but like, it's the balance that's stupid"
Singleplayer is an option, don't try to pretend it'd be hard to dial the enemy spawn-count down when there's only 1 player.
