What are your thoughts on auto turrets?
So I love using turrets in this game but they seem hit and miss. (Also my mortor turret I think keeps killing my friends lol)

So curious what other people's thoughts were on them, good or bad and their favs.

Ps. I know other stratagems are probably better for efficiency. But I just like using them anyways.

Turrets are a lot better in this game than in Helldivers 1 because of Elevation. You can sometimes put turrets above your team in such a way as that the bugs need to get in line of fire to get to them and the turrets won't accidentally shoot your teammates.

Mortar turret is 10/10 but can friendly fire if a hunter pack jumps on your crew.

Autocannon and Rocket sentry are great for robot engagements.

Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems, not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems, for instance: how am I going to stop some mean mother Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous be-hind? The answer, use a gun, and if that don't work... Use more gun. Take for instance this heavy caliber tripod mounted lil' old number designed by me, built by me, and you best hope... Not pointed at you.

The autocannon sentry turns bugs into small pieces, and automatons into even smaller pieces. This is good for Democracy.

Turrets call in are very strong if you can keep your position and can actually cover you through out your time in an objective site if you upgrade their ammo cap, but it's not very useful as a panic buttons, since you NEED a good position for them.

Having a couple of them when you need to stand and fight is amazing tho.

I wanted to make a pure turret build, but the modules just aren’t good enough to justify them. I think 10% cooldown for a module is bogus, even with the 50% health they get destroyed easily. I also think turret placement should always stick not bounce like a ping pong ball. I think at least 25% cooldown would be the way to go, if not more, or add some armor that reduces turret cooldown, improved damage, health etc; the cooldown for turrets is just way to long for them to get blown off of the map by a single stomp from a walker. Meanwhile eagle strike strats get a 50% cooldown, and they are already OP as hell. I always love me a good turret build, but the really need to make the ship modules better for turrets. I would start with lower cooldown for sure. It’s not like they are OP. Using eagles or orbital strikes will pretty much kill anything right away. Why not buff turrets to make them sustain? I’m a sucker for a pure turret/minion build. It would be awesome to have armor specifically built for managing turrets like an engineer.

There kind of cool but there ai can be extremely bad sometimes. I have seen them just straight up not shoot if 1 bug is to close to them. But besides the the other thing I don't like is how the anti swarm turrets such as the minigun and machine gun turret tend to waste there entire load on a charger or another armored enemy type they can't kill. This is kind of an issue with all turret builds as well since the minigun turret can run out of ammo faster then the rocket and autocannon turret can kill a charger together. Simple fix would be to just make minigun and lmg turret prioritize chaff since they kind of did that already with the rocket turret.

The modules in the super destroyer are really hit or miss. The eagle ones are good , but the turret are...ok-ish? Only the 50% ammo really count.
I would love them to rework that , kinda like a real specialisation of "your" destroyer.
That being said : auto canon , mortar and missile are amazing. The emp one is also great on flare/breach . The machine guns are good low level , but at gigh level , you should have one guy decicated for trashmob clear anyway , not needed.

I swear sentries have a % chance, whenever they change target, to misidentify a Helldiver as a Terminid and just kill them. Mortars also absolutely prioritise enemies that are close to Helldivers.

Aside from that, anohter big issue is just...

Find the perfect spot for sentry.
Pull out tracker.
Drop tracker at feet.
*Boing*

(Also, the amount and level of samples required to upgrade them is just... Ew.)

At high levels, I find it is hard to choose a good spot that won't kill your teammates since the battlefield changes constantly due to BT/Chargers. They are simply too hit and miss for my liking although I do drop a mortar in a protected area and warn teammates don't let bugs/bots get close to you and if they do, run away fast.
