ADD AUTO RELOAD
For a fast paced game, it's insane that it doesn't have a mechanic that every game in the whole wild world does outside of milsims, and this is not a milsim, lol.

On certain weapons it makes sense to have the ammo conservation minigame, as reloading an hmg is costly and takes time so it would make it awful if your Diver automatically sat down to reload when you're running away.

But for the likes of the Railgun and Break-Action, I would never pick them up now that I know I have to smash R repeatedly in the face of 20 bugs rushing me. That means people won't experiment, they'll just stick with the HMG or whatever they call down.

For some weapons it just feels like a QOL feature if the devs want to see people try new guns.
i enjoy the railguns rhythm of fire reload fire reload. if people dont like it then they dont like it. making it autoreload would remove some of its unique charm

Why are you using the railgun on horde waves?? The railgun is for bringing democracy to the bile titans in 2-3 shots. smh.

Because pressing a button to reload is so much work.
Honestly disagree, its part of Helldivers ID to be like that. Wanna disable Friendly Fire too?

Auto reload for normal weapons and then prompted reloads for things that you need to stop for.

I'm totally in agreement for this.

Only thing I would add is that it shouldn't work if you're just holding down the button and auto reload, but if you press fire with a empty mag it should reload instead of just clicking.

Railgun and other single fire or low bullet count weapons are terrible when it doesn't auto reload.

Maybe just add in auto reload for specific weapons that need it, like the railgun.

The no auto-reload is a meme and you will enjoy it. Stop whining Helldiver.
BasApan Feb 11, 2024 @ 2:36am
No, I like the stress and panic it causes, you have to plan engagements carefully.
"hmm, is my secondary reloaded, in case i get swarmed?" "Do I have enough ammo or do i need to get a supply drop" etc.
I have intimate knowledge on how much ammo I have after every encounter because the game forces ME to reload, making me count mags and ammo myself.

no reload adds more challenge and realism. So, nope my little railgun users D
Revilar Feb 11, 2024 @ 2:41am
It would depend on the weapon, no? Like if your using a weapon that requires you to stand still in order to reload, I think it'd be annoying for the game to stop you every time when you might not want to.
Tiniturtle Feb 11, 2024 @ 2:44am
u hold a heavy weapon and bug is on ur ass u really want to autoload after shot ?
No thank you
Kha Feb 11, 2024 @ 2:45am
Mmm, i can think of situations where i absolutely don't want to be reloading after a shot, auto reload could be good as an option, but i feel like it'd end up being a crutch, regardless of the weapons you use.
