mostlikely the transaction failed, so it got refunded to the steam wallet automatically

Well you can buy super credits with your steam funds.
So just use the funds now on your steam to buy the super credits :)

YOu transfer money to steam wallet and then you use your steam wallet to buy the credits.

Most in game purchases on steam first fund the wallet then you can use the wallet to buy what ever the thing is. IDK why it does that, but that's the case with Magic Arena.

it does work, but it HAS to add it to the steam wallet first. If the transaction didn't complete, give it another try now that the funds are already in your wallet they will just be withdrawn from there.

Steam does this to save on payment processing fees.

From what I remember these tend to be a set amount + a percentage of the transaction amount so after a certain point you lose money processing a transaction.

Steam requires you to pay in wallet funds for micro transactions because it lets them set a minimum acceptable amount of money per transaction to prevent people from making a bunch of small transactions that they have to process separately.
