How do you change difficulty?

I can see the difficulty of the mission at the bottom of the screen but there are no buttons to change it. I've tried pressing all the buttons but nothing seems to work.

q/e on the upper levels of the war map. you can't change difficulty when in an operation because operations are tied to difficulty.

Did you complete a mission on Trivial? You unlock difficulties by playing

I’m in the same boat. I feel like i’m missing something obvious. Difficulty right there, no indication of how to flip through them. Googled it and the article answers are all “Open the mission screen and change the difficulty” Like seriously? No ♥♥♥♥ but HOW????

Figured it out, you have to change it in the previous screen with Lb Rb or Q/e keyboard, missions are tied to specific difficulties so it will be a different mission

You increase the difficulty by beating the highest difficulty you have, then use Q/E to rotate through the difficulty you want to play on.

There is a known bug currently that stops you from progressing in difficulty, they've acknowledged and said they were working on it.

I noticed this before, but I think if you're already browsing through the different missions on the planet, Q and E don't work. You have to back out one step (the screen where you pick a planet I believe) and then you can choose difficulty.

You can progress from trivial without clearing a mission.

(I discovered this because the android defense missions on trivial...are decidedly not trivial. Having it unlock a higher difficulty after being brutalized by robots for ten minutes straight was not exactly appreciated!)

My issue is that I keep increasing in difficulty but no way to go down. I'm at 9 now but I would like to be back at 5. The Q/E thing isn't there for me either, so I understand your pain.
