Time limit?
After you land on a planet you are timed because the ship in space is just going to leave even though you can still see tons of ships in the air that can just as well pick you up. So is the reason behind them leaving supposed to be that you are expendable and they don't care so they leave? If that's the case then why would they respond to any of your stratagems?

The whole time limit is functionally silly in this game. Monster hunter at least has a logical progression of enraged anger with bosses if you don't beat them in time.

Remember, citizen, that not only is your contribution to Democracy and Prosperity of Super Earth invaluable, so is the contribution of everyone else! You are all equally invaluably expendable.

The entire time limit is a crap mechanic.
The game is in an identity crysis in that aspect.
There is a big map where you have 3 different objectives:
-Main objective
-secondary objective
- map specific like destroy a hive

Plus grind for the samples which you need for unlocks.
So you would think the devs want you to take your time. But no. They want you to rush.
Why? Who knows why. Maybe so you don't find too much from the premium currency too fast, Who knows. But the time limit needs to go.
Or if they want to keep it, make smaller maps or make every earning of currency consistent according to mission completition and not depending how much of the map you discovered.

as far as I'm aware there isn't any in-universe reason for why the Super Destroyer leaves, out of verse its probably to help the servers from having to keep up runs that go hour+

You can still exfil after time's out you just can't call in any further reinforcements or air support, I'm sure someone could come up with some over the top grimdark explanation for it but in the end it's a game, if no time limits lobbies could exist for ever and cause infrastructure problems or something who knows.

Humans are cheaper to replace than a multi trillion dollar ship.

If you were a true Citizen of super earth you would understand you are worthless.

Did you notice upon completing the tutorial you load into whats amounts to be a 'hive' transport ship filled with hundreds of other recruits just like you and as the ship lifts off you can see in the distance hundreds of ships also lifting off, each like the one you are on...

...you are a small cog in a grand machine that marches ever forward. Stay up or get left behind!

I figured the timer is there because the infinite spawning patrols that always wander into you are gone.

The timer needs to go. Plain and simple

Explanation is given to you if u ever run low on time : ships cant stay in low earth orbit for too long (presumably because things in low orbit move very fast and ship gets taken away eventually)

I'm assuming when in low-orbit mode, they need to use fuel to stay in orbit where they can provide fire support. After that they have to go into full orbit which is out of range and strategems would vaporize in the atmosphere. This is why you can call in the drop ship and time can run out while waiting for the drop ship but you can still leave.
They do say over the comms that we can’t hold low orbit for too much longer when you near the lower ends of the timer, So yeah maybe a fuel issue.

Lets not forget that ships are literally exploding around yours probably a good reason to not hang around for to long in low orbit. Do not forget that their are people actively trying to Destroy you even on bug planets

Thats not logical. The same ship is able to travel from planet to planet yet they will run out of 'fuel' if they are in low orbit of a planet? Uhhhh yea ok

If you are taking too long on a mission, us other Super Citizens think that you're just hanging out because you're AFRAID TO DIE!

Are you a HELLDIVER or what?

You can easily do all main objectives and comb the entire map for every POI and still have 10 minutes remaining on Helldive with a 4 stack. The timer is there so you actually have to learn the game to get stuff.
