How to use Strategems while walking/running?(PC)

Try as I might, I can't seem to map the controls for PC so that I can continue walking/running with the Strategem menu open.

I play with a controller on PC so its easy. Not sure how you can with Mouse and keyboard.

no way. the helldiver had to kneel down, dial his sat phone with huge gloves while not being able to move. kinda prevents a silly casual play-style.

I don't think you are supposed to be able to walk around while calling in Strategems? That is intended.

I thought I had seen other people just walking/running while dialing it up. The Strategems use your movement keys(wasd) by default, and if you try moving the mouse north/south/east/west to map it to the other hand, it locks out the look commands from the mouse.

IIRC you can dive with alt and call in mid dodge if you need to

Thing is, I have friends who can call in strategems in literally a second, so its likely they were running, called it super fast, and then kept running

HD1 players use what are known as 'macros' in the common tongue.

use the arrow keys instead of WASD, then keep pushing W while you take seconds off your mouse. Dexterity baby

You are supposed to be able to.
Rebind the movement or stratagem keys to something else.

I call strats with my arrow keys. I can call and move at the same time.

The animations for opening the map and calling stratagems are similar. but you can walk while having the map open.
