Computer failed to boot, now turns itself on automatically
So i installed helldivers 2 and ever since my computer has been turning itself on. Reporting that I have to reset bios values then finally boots. I turn it off and 20 minutes later it turns itself on again.

I've now uninstalled the game and so far the computer is no longer turning itself on or having any issues. Whatever this rootkit AC is must be causing the issue. It has only started happening since i had the game on my system.

I7 13700k
Gigabyte Aorus Master z790 bios 12e
32GB CAS34 7200MHz DDR5 RAM
RTX 4080 FE
Win11 latest updates.

Hard disagree i have none of that update stuff setup
The oc has never done this and so far it has not turned itself on again after uninstalling the game.

So far uninstalling has resolved the issue.

I've also had this PC for 8 months and never had this issue

Being rootkit anticheat it can manipulate your pc however it wants. Maybe it turns on your pc to download some gameguard update just like some pc turns on during the night to download windows update.

By tuning itself on do you mean that after you do a shut down, not a sleep, it will boot itself back on? If so that's the first time I've heard of a PC that turns itself on.

Yes literally that. I click shutdown as usual i never use sleep mode then it puts itsekf back on.

It has not happened so far since uninstalling the game.

It is very odd but it only happened post game install and seems to have stopped entirely post uninstall. I'm working now next to it so I'll know if it turns itself on again post uninstall but if it does not all day then that 100% confirms it.

Out of curiosity, why does your profile list 0 games?

It's not the game, it's AI... It has finally become sentient. Your computer it 'patient zero.'

Prepare yourselves.

So I did some digging on the PC booting up by itself and this is what I found, might help you:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type "powercfg -lastwake", it should tell you the reason it booted up and if it does you have your reason.

You can also check the Event Viewer, under Windows Logs > System, search for Kernel-Boot under Source and look around the source (next message usually) if it tells you who started the boot.

Finally, some people say that the option "Wake On LAN" from BIOS can also cause your PC to boot up without your prompt and disabling it (in BIOS) will stop it. For this one though I'd recommend you do your own search rather than take my word on it as I don't recommend messing with the BIOS if you don't know what you're doing.

Will check logs later, very busy at work (IT professional) but Wake on Lan is disabled.

Again the PC has not turned itself on for over an hour now with the game uninstalled. It's turned itself on much much sooner than thst with the game installed.

I don't think lastwake will help but I'll see if i can pull up history. As last turn on was manual for me to uninstall

any WHEA event logs too in Event Viewer? Windows 11's HAGS may be incompatible with some games such as this, at least in my experience

Will check later. So far 2 hours PC is not turning itself on..so Helldivers2 does seem to be the issue so far

Weird. My PC has not turned itself on ever since installing the game.
Rhapsody Feb 9, 2024 @ 2:43am
Probably installed Windows updates at same time and something broke. Or the PC just wants to play Helldivers.
