FIX FOR MSVCR110.dll
Go to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2012-vc-110-update-4--no-longer-supported

And download the x64 file and install it.

2.) Go to windows\system32 and scroll down until you see MSVCR110.dll and COPY IT

3.) Go to Steam, right click on Helldivers 2 click properties, go to installation files, my path is the following (D drive is custom it will be different for you most likely)

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\bin

then paste the MSVCR110.dll file in there

4.) Run the application Helldiver 2 as admin it will ask to install the game guard or what ever the crap this is called.

Yeah anyone with a newer machine that hasn't been forced in the past to install that specific visual package will have this problem and the installation for helldivers 2 doesn't include the package, because it's from 2012 I believe so it has to be done manually. Took me reading several forums to piece the answer to this nightmare together

Brilliant solution. This got me past Steam starting it and immediately stopping. Now onto the next problem of the black screen loading into the game. Onward and upwards! Have an award :)

Bro - you are a champ for this! I found all kinds of "fixes" but NONE said to copy/paste file in to the game's bin folder. That was the missing step! Thank you!!

Is this info still accurate? When I try to install the Visual Studio update it tells me another installation is in progress and shuts down...but there isn't anything else installing as far as I know.

Yes this is still accurate, it is Microsoft Visual Studio, consider going into "Settings" and check your "windows updates" if they're any in queue run those first. Once you reboot your machine, try the steps again.
