Be careful with GameGuard

GameGuard uses rootkits to proactively prevent cheat software from running. GameGuard hides the game application process, monitors the entire memory range, terminates applications defined by the game vendor and INCA Internet to be cheats (QIP for example), blocks certain calls to Direct X functions and Windows APIs, keylogs keyboard input, and auto-updates itself to change as new possible threats surface.

Since GameGuard essentially works like a rootkit, players may experience unintended and potentially unwanted side effects. If set, GameGuard blocks any installation or activation of hardware and peripherals (ex. a mouse) while the program is running. Since GameGuard monitors any changes in the computer's memory, it will cause performance issues when the protected game loads multiple or large resources all at once.

It's unacceptable for a game to use such an old and harmful AntiCheat software. Just for your information, there's literally no AAA game that ever used this. Just a bunch of very old mmos, like Metin2, 9Dragons, etc. Frankly, the devs should issue a public statement on this, as they are installing a Rootkit Access software on your PC without telling you of the potential risks and side-effects.

Its the same with every anti cheat software and it uninstalls when you uninstall the game. If security of any kind bothers you then dont use a computer. Your anti virus software does alot of similar things to if you use one.

Why they didn't just use Steam's VAC or Easy Anti-Cheat is beyond me. But I'm refunding until such a time that they remove it and fix their game. Thankfully I didn't install it to begin with so I dodged the bullet of it bricking my machine on the way out at least.

bro, why so hostile? if you don't care about your PC, fine, but maybe others do, and want to be informed about what they are installing on your PC? an anti-virus software is a completely different beast from a poorly designed anti-cheat software that could potentially harm your PC.

People are generally very defensive about their purchases, because admitting you might've made a wrong decision is painful and we don't like it. Even worse with pre-orders, because you've already internalized the decision over the months of hype.

I'll wait for now. Maybe they'll deal with all of their issues. There's a plenty of games to play rn anyway.

Yeah, maybe you need to educate yourself a bit, It does not auto uninstall with the games uninstall. the Devs have even stated this and told everyone in a post that you have to go to the game directory and to the tools directory and manually run the setup to remove it.

Gotta love how people love to spread false information.
