That persistent world state is possibly the most irritating thing about owning HD1 in recent years, when the player base is too small to balance out the galactic state programmed into the game.
I digress, but that's really my longer term concern for HD2 - that once the player base dies down, there's no contingency to keep the game viable long term (or even medium term).
If you want a 3rd person shooter to play on your own, I'd highly recommend remnant 1 and remnant 2 (though, these are also excellent co-op games for when you're back on shore, or if you can get a LAN party going on the ship).
