There is no true SP story-mode if that's what you're asking. It's all about massive battlefield conquests.
Let me translate for the fanboi here.
"The dev's didn't have the skill or the time to make a campaign cause they knew that people like MacroX would defend it with their life. So shut up and play the contentless game and quite complaining."
Man who knew that games like DRG, Squad, Doom, Vampire survivor, Mount and Blade, Star sector, Highfleet, Factorio, Rimworld, Super mario bros, basically most of the rougelite genre are bad games because they lack a story mode. Like I'm all for single player narrative experiences but it seems a bit contrived to say every game is morally required to have one because Sybsidian says so. Hell don't know how Helldivers 2 will be but having a gameplay loop solid should be the main focus. You are being a bit of a clown right now.
Join the mobile infantry!!!
Our story is told over many missions: it is us engaging in fights with the enemy and dying horrifically most of the time in either epic or hilarious ways. As a collective, the battle for the galaxy will evolve through resolving directives, humanity losing planets, retaking planets, and defeating the AI by capturing their homeworlds (most likely).
It's just round-based-gameplay with global trackers and stats centralized around the gameplay loop in a diegetic manner. It's got a story but not the kind an RPG might deliver.
Either learn now or learn the hard way.
