I don't have a PSN account, never made one and I'm able to play on Steam with randoms.

I think the confusion is more regarding PlayStation Plus.

You do need to link to a PSN, but that PSN does not need to have an active PlaySation Plus subscription.

The only people that need a PS+ subscription are people playing on console. Steam players only need to link to a PSN, which is super easy and completely free.

As such, as of May 6th, all new HELLDIVERS 2 players on Steam will be required to connect their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account. Current players on Steam will start to see the mandatory login from May 30th and will be required to have linked a Steam and PlayStation Network account by June 4th.

For this game now, yes. When it first came out, no. It was optional when it first came out as it was a way for PSN gamers to play with their friends on PS while on PC. Now it's mandatory, after not being mandatory for many months, because of the Stellar Blade censorship debacle. If you don't have the game, no reason to buy it now. If you do, make sure to leave a negative review so others know not to buy this game and for the the reasons. I wouldn't recommend it for other reasons than having to make a PSN account months after game launch in order to play this game, but this is just another reason I hope this game goes in the toilet. Now Starship Troopers Extermination has a shot of getting their player base back after HD2 preformed Sepeku on itself thanks to Sony's instructions.

My confusion comes from the question of, are you allowed to play on playstation if you link accounts (the same account)? Not saying I will and I don't even own a ps5 but are the accounts linked between steam and ps5 or would I need to buy it on ps5 also? Genuine question also do you need playstation plus to play helldivers on the ps5 anyways?

Good idea. Maybe you can do the same and read about all the countries who can´t play anymore due to this being a thing. I doubt you even tried to read all the countries who got access to STEAM, but don´t have access to PSN. Try following your own advice and read first before posting stuff like that :)
