No, PSN is not required to play on Steam. The game is cross-play and cross save with PS5. To use the cross-save feature obviously you need to have a PSN account, but not for just playing on Steam and utilizing cross-play with PS5 players.

So much missinformation. It says right when you boot up the game "Linking a PS account is NOT mandatory." I do not have a PS account. I'm playing Helldivers 2. Simple.

They will ask you for PSN, but you kinda can deny it and proceed to play.

You only need a PSN account if you want to matchmake with Playstation players. I turned off crossplay and skipped the prompt to make a PSN account when I first launched the game and was able to play with friends just fine.

But i guess they will put it on PSN in like 6month/holidays/1year while announcing news content

I play with dualsense, rumble are cool. But you need to disable all steam-controller option to work

No you definitely don't need it.
But the game is very missleading when you first start it. Because it says:
"PSN account needed to play" but also you have the option to skip account linking.
I haven't created one and could still play.
Then i created one and linked it in the options to steam and nothing changed.
So there is literally no benefit to create and ling a Playstation account.
