100GB is too much. Why are 4K textures mandatory for everyone?
Why not making the 4K textures as free dlc like Monster Hunter World?
I have no use for them and I am forced to have all this space taken. We don't all have the money for expensive big SSD, some of us have bad internet connexion. Steam Deck users are also limited in space.
Finally, people with older PC won't be able to run the game with higher graphics anyway

it's 23gb for download and 75gb disk size

What pisses me off more is that game update sizes increased with resolution so much, and it's ridiculous. The actual game executibles can't be that big, but nobody patches anything properly anymore. They just replace half the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, especially on console.

SSD's are not expensive. You can get a 1tb SSD for less than the price of a game these days. Not having a good internet connection can be solved by changing providers or paying for a better service.
Not trying to be harsh but these all sound like you problems.

Not everyone has service options. I live in the middle of nowhere, stuck with 3MB DSL even though people within a half mile in both directions have cable.

It's called consumer friendly product - quality. Why push unnecessary +50% gb just for 4k textures which have 0 effect on 80-90% users who still play game on 1080p?

If all devs start to be so lazy, you'll need to buy 2TB SSD instead, then they'll find others ways to exploit players willingness to roll over and capitulate to companies laziness and it's diablo 4 story again with inventory space limitation and inability or lack of willingness to work on a quality systems that wouldn't lag players PC.

It's like some software I purchased and paid. It's size 500mb. Then I purchased extra texture (not required for software to function and highly optional) dlc and now every time I want to download that software, it forces me to download extra 5gb dlcs to finish installation. So dumb. I regret buying those dlc.

That's why you need 2tb SSD or more because these companies keep piling on users their bs.

yeah, the exe's for a game is usually never that big, the actual resources and assets are seperate things in the same folder, and usually patches need to actually replace the patched files so you get most of your space back when the patch is done

They can just deal with that ♥♥♥♥? My Internets not the best but I don't complain online about downloading games slow, I just download them. I'm not going to say changing providers is a solution since I only have 1 provider near me so I would be hypocritical.

They could make max texture pack a free optional dlc. Alike the first version of Skyrim had it.

EDIT: a quick google seach show that the name was "High Resolution Texture Pack".

I AM SYNTH Jan 29, 2024 @ 2:18pm
i just wonder why didn't they just put the 4k textures as free dlc, that way only those who uses 4 k would need to download, i mean this has been done with middle earth shadow of war, heck even fortnite ask if the user wants to download high res textures when downloading the game

i mean like said above, that's just lazy
it's like not optimizing a game then telling the players to buy a better pc when the game still renders invisible high res geometry or shaders

No?
4GB card is enough for 1080p according to them and they list a 12GB card for 4K.

By the way...AMD is the one company that puts above average vram amounts into their cards.
