Any dev that puts anti-linux drm in their game loses a sale from me. Not sure why Valve supports this kind of practice either if they want more deck sales, and it screws over their push for Linux gaming.

Because this is a private company who has completely different objectives than Valve trying to sell a product. Linux makes up a very small minority of the market. So its a bit odd to say if a game doesn't support Linux it deserves to be booted off the store. Now while I hate the DRM/Anticheat they are adding into this product and it has basically made me want to avoid this product until its completely removed, your assertion seems way too absurd not to address. Like Valve doesn't "support" this behavior, it just has a general indifference towards it. Hell if anything I think one would be worried if Valve started using their marketshare/space in the industry to force these kind of changes while the goal of increasing the usage of Linux is great and its awesome that is something Valve is really supporting but its a scary thought to have Valve/Steam do such an action that clearly only benefits them in this exchange when such actions would possibly require a not insignificant amount of work to do. Valve does many things to increase their sales numbers features like steam input and remote together are features that merely exist to sell copies of games where those features would greatly benefit niche titles however those are things handled by Valve nothing being forced upon the developer who can simply opt out of it. The closest thing would probably be around Wolfire Games and their lawsuit against Valve and we should see how that shakes out first before talking much more about it.

that's a lot of words. Them encouraging devs not to do stupid things like add copy protection that makes the experience for the consumer worse would be a good thing, sorry.

Why does a PVE coop game even need anticheat?

Alot of words for saying, you don't understand that Valve/Steam are a storefront and are therefore incentive to make more money by not adding arbitrary limits even though said limits would be better for the consumers. I want it to be clear I have already stated my distain for the anticheat/drm they are implementing. Why do you think we have those stupid EA/Ubisoft games on steam because Valve allows them to force launch their own garbage launchers with a steam purchase. Hell before Proton, there was wine but it was fiddly but imagine if Valve said ♥♥♥♥ it no games are allowed on the steam storefront unless they had native Linux support, it seems crazy to suggest that every developer who wanted to be on steam had to cater specifically 2% of the steam ecosystem because Valve is heavily invested into the Linux ecosystem.

Funny thing is that Sony built the PS consoles off of part linux/unix/partx86. They just pigeonhole the masses to use windows and people go along with it for its ease of use. The most used OS in the world is basically Anroid/Linux like 70 percent.

Nah, I'll play it on deck. Denuvo hasn't stopped me play games that say it has Denuvo and is unplayable, yet I'm able to play, you just have to be connected online, and I ain't playing this solo lol

Helldivers 2 is implementing an anti-cheat called GameGuard, running kernel-level like EAC / BattlEye / Vanguard. GameGuard has no Linux build, and it's very unlikely the game is not even going to start on Linux. Other games running GameGuard do not run on Linux currently.

Lame considering the original was one of my highest played Vita games, however I have Windows handhelds as well to play this on.

You could always dual boot your steam deck as well.

It would be nice if Valve got more pro-consumer, but they won't even change policy on all the launchers and extra accounts that games sold on Steam require. They should've made companies like Ubisoft drop that ♥♥♥♥ when they came crawling back to Steam after nobody wanted their ♥♥♥♥ on Epic. The only account I should need to play any game is the one I bought it with.

Cause they will find ways to screw over your online experience. Is it really that hard to understand? Some people just play co-op with friends but there are many others that do not.

There are a few good reasons and they have been repeated ad nauseam

Babies that don't know how to simply pick a different room to play in and block those they don't want to play with. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PvE. Get over it. Nothing will ever stop cheaters on PC anyway. It's one of the reasons some people on console dislike crossplay.

How does another company making a game unplayable on Steam Deck make Valve anti consumer?

Do you think before you post on here?
Note the operating word "more" as you look in the mirror. You're on the same side. No need for friendly fire. But this is a Helldivers forum, so don't worry. It happens.
