So people, play the game properly now or have a terrible solo time if purchased later down the line.
Just keep in mind everyone.
https://steamdb.info/app/394510/charts/#all
People keep saying this ♥♥♥♥, but there's tons of coop games/no-bot games that are still running fantastic years later. Deep Rock Galactic and Risk of Rain, for example.
This is not a good argument.
My friends dont play those games so Im stuck solo.
You missed the point.
My friends dont play Darktide either but its AI filled.
So? You can play Deep Rock and Risk of Rain 2 Solo too. No bots. Actually Deep Rock gives you a cool drone to help you around. And Risk of Rain 2 has bigger power scaling in singleplayer because you don't need to share items.
I did try playing them solo, it was a mid to terrible experience.
Risk of rain was ok ish. Felt empty a lot.
Deep rock felt really empty and the moment to moment pacing of it seems to be built around co-op.
No banter, no AI assists, etc just me pretending its a single player campaign when the game design is co-op through and through.
Some stat changes doesnt make co-op design into a single player experience.
Technically you are right that it can be played solo somehow.
But technical correctness doesn't mean its good.
Look, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt here, but hum, if you want to play a coop-game solo, maybe... don't buy coop game and go find solo games to play instead?
All of these games have solutions in case everyone stops playing or there's no enough players. You just don't like them.
Maybe you should actually find friends to play this game (or any games) with, instead of... just whining about a dead game before it's even released, lol.
You make it out to be as if both now or later will be the same.
I've been gaming for the last 18 years and I can tell you that you dont need steamdb numbers or twitch numbers to tell you that a playerbase does decline soon after in non live service style co-op games.
I don't think you read my original post and I'm not whining.
Just warning people that the best time to play is now for these kinds of games and not later.
Later means sub par experience.
For eg. Darktide now is empty most of the time.
In fact less than a year of its release and bots were filling up
So fingers crossed that this turns out to be a banger of a game.
I would advise just the opposite: The worst time to play games nowadays is on release, because they are often riddled with bugs, incomplete AND you don't have all the information yet.
Do not fall into FOMO just because "you might not get a lobby in one year"
If that's the case, was the game even worth playing in the first place? If there really isn't anyone else still playing one year later?
Doesn't really matter, because we'll have more games in one year, and probably even better ones ;)
This is the case for nearly every single online game, co-op or PvP, live service or not.
In fact, having it not being live service is better and healthier for the consumer in the long run since you won't be subjected to as many systems set in place to 'nickle and dime' you.
Totally agree
Even though its sooner for non live service games due to lack of updates, content, skins etc etc
Also that is why many of them have AI bots.
Left 4 Dead, Vermintide, Darktide etc etc
