ICEY

Anyone know mechanically similar games to Icey?
You know stylish action platformer with some crazy combos and light RPG-elements in the form of upgrades?
It doesn't matter if it's metroidvania or stage-based game.
Only others I know of are Vagrant, Evil Genome and maybe Vagrant Story, though that one has some serious RPG mechanics unlike other three.
Do you know any more similar games?

2D : Dust An Elysian Tale. Probably the most satisfying combo based combat gameplay I've played in a 2D game.

3D : Nier Automata

As much as I hate Capcom these days, Devil May Cry sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

CrossCode might be something you'd like

seems to me like valdis story: abyssal city would be a perfect fit for you; it has a steep learning curve though. you might also wanna check out rainblood chronicles: mirage and the dishwasher: vampire smile. possibly even guacamelee, hollow knight, megabyte punch.

Phantom Breaker maybe, if you can careless for the childlike characters. Its not exactly identical to ICEY. Its like Scott Pillgrim mixed with anime fighting games and with only girls characters.
I agree with tschupp about Valdis Story. Its a fast game with combos, super finishers, four playable characters with really differents weapons with different playstyles. But it is very difficult game, its sometimes feel unbalanced to me. But you can choose the difficult you want to play. There is even a arena mode with infinite chalengers ( but I only get to floor 30 to unlock a item to the others modes)
But Hollow Knight to me it is very different from these two. Its more like Momodora. Or more like Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles from the psp, with a little more mobility, more character customization through the use of charms combination( I think there is 42 in the current patch, there is a new free DLC come in 23 this month with more charms and more bosses and a new game mode) and characters development(you can raise the MaxHP, MaxMp and the base attack power). and until now there is only two mode. Hard and very hard. This like a darksoul 2d game.

The Vagrant is a good one I'm going through now. Way more in depth.

I recommand you Dust an elysian tale and Valdis story which have a gameplay very similar to Icey though valdis is more difficult (especially if you want to unlock achievments). Both are longer (around 10h for me to finish both game with the more achievments I could do), have a good scenario and beautiful graphics.
If you have a PS4, PS3, or Vita, I recommend Odin Sphere Leifthrasir.

The type of game you're looking for is called "character action" and has examples in Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, etc. 2D examples are usually just refered to as "hack and slash" but they are character action games regardless. The character action genre is defined by juggling enemies for large combo numbers, usually with systems and movesets similar to fighting games.

If you want 3D CA games, then the ones I listed previously are great triple-A picks. 2D games have of course ICEY, but also Odin Sphere and Muramasa Demon Blade (Vanillaware is a favorite of mine). If you want a rare top-down isometric example, CrossCode is a game I can't recommend enough.

i dunno if counts as the answer you'r looking for, but Silent Hill Shatered Memories is pretty much alike, according of your gameplay the surrounding changes, as well, you recieve a Psicological test, if you are looking for simple hack n' slash, put that term on the search bar, see ya :Maintenance:
the dishwasher and its sequel vampiresmile

'Bladed Fury' maybe?
Stylish: Yes (if you like the chinese artstyle)
Light RPG elements: Yes (a simple upgrade system)
crazy combos: not as much as ICEY :/

the core element is the summoning of spirits that assist you and parring of projectiles (<- very rewarding when sucssefully executed but not as easy as it sounds)
