Having a hard time on west garden
I'm not a wimp at videogame combat, but how am I supposed to handle three chompignons and a couple fairies at the same time?
One chompignon? Sure. Dodge the bite, 3 hit combo, rinse, repeat. Now, two? That gets tougher. But three?

And fairies, with one you're fine using the shield and waiting til they get close, but two and you're SOL very fast, as the shots start hitting from behind.

And well, in west garden right before reaching the dagger, I'm getting three chompignons and sometimes one or two fairies pop up.

Is there any way to handle this that I'm not seeing?

Thanks in advance.

For the three chompignons, try to avoid going too far past them while fighting them, as that's what will cause the additional fairies to appear.
As for actually defeating them, have you ever tried to fight one by using your shield instead of dodging? If you can do that, then one of the available strategies is to retreat to the narrow pathway leading to their spot, to force 1v1 "corridor" fights.

For dealing with multiple fairies, try to use clever positioning/movement to prevent them from getting behind you in the first place. For example, in the fight against three fairies, you could use the doorway to your advantage.
Running around to avoid shots is also an option, even if somewhat limited.

Thanks for the reply.

About the shield, I can see that working against one of them.
If it's just one, I don't need to use the shield or even dodge. You can walk around them as they chomp and just combo them afterwards.
Regarding the doorway strategy, I haven't found a doorway narrow enough that it won't allow two of them to fit, and once you have two of them chomping at you, you're SOL.

So far the best "trick" I've found is to keep a couple fairies alive so that they shoot the chompignoms while I dodge the shots, and I can easily deal wifh the fairies afterwards.

Use the dynamite! Or the fire bombs if you really wanna be sure.

You can keep backing up when theyre chomping at you, and thwacking them on the nose after they bite; its not fast but it works.

The magic dagger will work pretty well.... too bad its a catch 22.

Second the Dynamite, its only 100 coins for 3 and they can make short work of pesky enemies, also the faeries have friendly fire so if you get an enemy between you and them they will hit their friends instead.

Thank you both for the comments, but unfortunately I've given up on the game.

As I said before, I don't think I'm handicapped regarding video game combat.
I've finished both Blasphemous games and other games quite more combat-oriented.
Yet in this one I got frustrated beyond reason.
Three chompignoms and two fairies are not doable.
And then if you barely manage that, you get thrown against a chompignom and one of the shielded sword mice.

I tried using fire bombs and dynamite, but as I said in the other topic, I keep getting those removed when I respawn at the save point, and I don't make enough points to buy them again.

A shame because I do like the game, but this makes no sense.

I haven't read the whole thread but the fire wand (idk name) can pretty much oneshot any fairy
And if you're having too much trouble game has options to basically be invencible if you want

I don't have any fire wand yet.
Now, option be invincible? I'll check that out.
Maybe I can skip this stupidly hard place where I got stuck for like 2 weeks and continue from there.
Thanks!

Well, I tried the "no fail" mode and it did allow me to continue, but the game only gets worse from that point on.
I defeated the garden boss, and from that point on it gets filled with those big caped enemies with shields and spears, which are beyond frustrating, even with no fail on.
Thanks for the help, but I'm giving up on this.
A true shame, since the first part was actually enjoyable.

well the game encourages you to explore in deep every new area you get, so if you're finding problems through the game maybe is because you're not exploring enough (there's a lot of useful items you can find like this fire wand, items that you can consume for permanent stats, or utility items like bombs)
game has a ton of secrets but it requires for the player to seek for them, not in a straight line
also, if you dont have it yet, there's a shield and you can do parry with it lol
