In any case, the backups might be fine, so maybe try to load them?
You can find save files and backups in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Andrew Shouldice\Secret Legend\SAVES.
Before doing anything with the files there, i'd recommend making a backup of them.
Save files are named "xxxxxxxxxxxx~yyyyyyyyyyyy.tunic" (without the quotes), where xxxxxxxxxxxx corresponds to the save slot's "creation time", and yyyyyyyyyyyy corresponds to the file's "save time".
Basically, the first number is used to determine which save file it is. if the first number of two save files is the same, then they're from the savefile slot, but at least one is a backup.
The second number is used to determine which save file to load. Out of all save files with a common first number, the file with biggest second number is the most recent one, so it's the one the game will load, and others are backups.
With this information, you should hopefully be able to try different backups.
Also, depending on when Steam Cloud last synced, your files there might could also be good.
Your Steam Cloud saves can be downloaded from here : https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=553420
(When "downloading" a file from Steam Cloud, you'll be asked to choose a file to replace, you might want to make some dummy file for this.)
And also keep in mind that launching or even just selecting TUNIC in your library can cause Steam Cloud to sync its files, potentially overwriting pre-corruption Cloud Saves with post-corruption files.
Reminder to make a manual backup before messing with your save files and backups!
(You might need to temporarily deactivate Steam Cloud to prevent it from overwriting your changes.)
And the fact that you launched the game since then doesn't mean your Cloud saves were overwritten, Steam Cloud doesn't always successfully sync².
¹Well, sometimes Steam Cloud can malfunction badly enough that it would overwrite newer local saves with older Cloud saves (but even if this happened with TUNIC, the way TUNIC's save files are named prevents too many backups from being overwritten.)
²I've seen a few posts on different game forums by players about losing their save files when they were playing on multiple devices, all because Steam Cloud failed to sync files to a new device, but not from it, replacing "old" Cloud saves with blank "new" saves, which would later cause other devices' saves to be overwritten with the "newer" Cloud save.
