Boss rush (point of no return)
I dropped down into a hole and now there is no way back, and the only way to progress is to kill every boss and waves of every enemy I've encountered in the game so far without any checkpoints, and with a very small health bar. However, I could have bought some upgrades at the shop (like more card slots) but didn't, am I screwed out of being able to do that?

If you are at the part that I think you are at, you can go back upstairs and visit the shop.

Don't worry, there is no checkpoints down below. So after you die, you will respawn at the area where the shop is easily accessible.

It really isn't seeming doable.
Someone told me you can get your stat upgrades back before doing the fight... I know it probably has something to do with the "dead" checkpoints that teleport you to that place with all the upgrade items out of reach... but none of those are accessible after the world changes (including the one below the cathedral, which looks like you can only reach it from a lower exit, which probably means beating the boss rush first). If I'm missing a manual page, of course I can't get it now. Sort of lost my motivation to keep going.

You can't get your stats back until after that series of fights. Maybe try farming some money for more bombs? They are pretty powerful.

you still have cards, magic items and consumables. You can farm cash for the latter, and also try to git gud... the gauntlet is totally doable, so just try to beat it

I've heard people say the gauntlet is a bit of a puzzle (still probably is one of the hardest fights in the game...), picking the right order for your strategy helps a lot

E.g. the fight with two Garden Knights gets a lot easier if you're aggressive enough to kill the first one before the second spawns; if you rely on the Ice Dagger for any particular fight it's probably better to do that fight before you fight all the Fairies since that fight lets you get a MP refill, etc.

Okay I realized you can parry whole groups of enemies at once, that helped on the skeletons and frogs. I just spammed strawberries and dynamite on the garden knights at the end.
