Yup, turns out I'm that stupid. While hunting fairies, I needed to hunt one at night, so I went to the old house to try napping. It was daytime and no more miasma. Facepalm epic fail.
Thanks a lot! :D
So don't worry about it. Fight the Heir on your first playthrough. Work on the golden path after. This way you can get both endings. I'm pretty sure once you do the golden path that you can't go back and get the first ending. This is why it's best to do it like this to do both options.
Fight the Heir first> Work on the golden path and the other secret stuff afterwards.
Yes, this is what I did. I must admit that the Golden Path and some fairies were too cryptic for me to discover on my own (I got like 75% but some were just insane to discover without a guide). I started a new game + following this playthrough. You really get odd extra monsters placed around the overworld. Unsure how crazy it gets eventually. I think I'll beat it once on that difficulty before moving on.
I like the game, but the whole puzzle D-Pad sequences kinda slows the game's pace too much for my liking. Some are in plain view and are fine, but some requires you to use a notepad or pen&ink to perform it without a certain time window and the golden path was nuts (50+ inputs). On the first playthrough, the discovery factor keeps you going, but that's gone on new game +. Still a good game!
