Spoiler-free backtrack question
Hi,

I'm late in-game, so if you just started, this post might contain spoilers.

I just restored my body after dying to The Heir on my first fight against him. While collecting missed treasures in the West Garden, I reached a previously inaccessible island with a tree and flowers. I use their pattern on the D-Pad Holy Cross and got a fairy. This made me realise that I missed all of them. Several locations are blocked off by miasma now.

Am I "softlock" exploration wise to collect these, the secret treasures (I got 3/12 at the moment) and any chests I might have missed on my first pass? Or should I just TP back to fight the Heir in my restored form to open some paths?

Without spoiling me, I have yet to open the golden door by the snowy mountain entrance, the door atop the snowy mountain, figure out what the tower past the Hourglass actually do and venture into the forbidden pass, so maybe any of these 4 locations restore the overworld to allow to treasure hunt fairies and treasures.

Thanks in advance,
Cheers!

Yup, turns out I'm that stupid. While hunting fairies, I needed to hunt one at night, so I went to the old house to try napping. It was daytime and no more miasma. Facepalm epic fail.

Thanks a lot! :D

Don't worry about it. You want to fight the Heir on your first playthrough anyway. Then you can even resume where you left off, or start a New Game+ to work on finding all of the fairies and working on solving a puzzle to open the mountain door. There is even more than that too.

So don't worry about it. Fight the Heir on your first playthrough. Work on the golden path after. This way you can get both endings. I'm pretty sure once you do the golden path that you can't go back and get the first ending. This is why it's best to do it like this to do both options.
Fight the Heir first> Work on the golden path and the other secret stuff afterwards.

Yes, this is what I did. I must admit that the Golden Path and some fairies were too cryptic for me to discover on my own (I got like 75% but some were just insane to discover without a guide). I started a new game + following this playthrough. You really get odd extra monsters placed around the overworld. Unsure how crazy it gets eventually. I think I'll beat it once on that difficulty before moving on.

I like the game, but the whole puzzle D-Pad sequences kinda slows the game's pace too much for my liking. Some are in plain view and are fine, but some requires you to use a notepad or pen&ink to perform it without a certain time window and the golden path was nuts (50+ inputs). On the first playthrough, the discovery factor keeps you going, but that's gone on new game +. Still a good game!
